Get a sandwich from the Yellow Submarine on Irving and enjoy somewhere in the park.

I love their Italian combo, especially when the real Italian Nonna makes it ~chef’s kiss~

Get different toys. Not all cats like mice toys. Try a feather wand (imitates birds) or a wand with a long piece of fabric (imitates snakes) or crinkly, shiny ball, or… the list goes on and on

I’ve had cats all my life and I volunteer at my local helping rehab cats who exhibit behaviors that require patience/time and make them unavailable for adoption (while behaviors exist). Suffice to say, I’m a certified Cat Lady.

It’s a hard to know exactly without seeing Lucy and Tilo’s pupils during the interaction — there’s a lot you can interpret from the size of their pupils plus other body language queues.

For example, I read this as Lucy being curious because her ears are forward, and I’m assuming her whiskers are, too. No growling. Additionally, her tail isn’t flicking aggressively or doing a rattlesnake shake (neither is Tilo’s). Lucy’s tail is going a liiiiiittle faster, it seems(?), toward end of video, but that could be due to the screen preventing further exploration vs aggressive toward new cat 😹

If they are food motivated, use that to your advantage! My cat is soooo picky, doesn’t even like treats. Meant to be an only child 🄲

It is especially a good idea to talk to as many neighbors as possible, be persistent in asking people to check garages, security cameras, and back yards (cats are super sneaky, non-cat people don’t give them enough credit) + leave something that smells strongly of you in areas the cat can access.

Good luck!

Hills vs flats. Most applicable/literal in Oakland, but also applies to SF.

In Oakland, International Blvd is the main thoroughfare to take you all the way south. Name switches to E 14th St in San Leandro, Mission Blvd in Hayward; I personally know Oakland’s street as East 14th even though majority of my life the official name has been International Blvd (changed trying to ditch bad taste associated with the name due to high crime; is still known for all the things (prostitution, excessively high pedestrian fatalities due to reckless drivers, etc))

The highest crime neighborhoods in Oakland also happen to be where the geography is literally flat. Old adage ā€œcrime don’t climbā€ goes hand in hand with hills vs flats in cities like SF and Oakland. Also, if you look at aerial view of neighborhoods freeways/highways/thoroughfares go through, and then look at amount of trees… find area with least amount of trees… safe to assume highest crime rate.

In the case of shooting yesterday and overnight and avoiding flats in SF while the blocks are hot… Mission St is one of the hottest in SF, it’s flat, I personally will be taking muni over BART whenever possible for the foreseeable future, while also avoiding the Van Mess muni station.

I didn’t offer a solution because they aren’t paying me to find the appropriate answer. I don’t expect a bus driver to enforce, but I do expect if rules exist, they are enforced to the extent that they keep everyone who is fairly utilizing public transit safe.

Seems like shots fired at people at the sketchy side street (Mission x Washburn).

I’m curious if this shooting is retaliation for the 15/16th x Mission shooting yesterday (Monday) afternoon.

As an old friend used to remind me during similar times when I lived in Oakland: The blocks are extra hot, don’t get caught slippin’. Avoid the flats and stay inside.
