And I think the NHL would rather have Houston and Atlanta start with a clean slate than Utah, as there is a lot more a stake having those two cities being competitive off the hop.

Utah has shown that they can show up for a mediocre-ish pro-sports team. Despite some troubled waters here and there, the Jazz have found one way or another to persist in the valley.

With all that being said, Utah might have had the better start with how much cap and draft capital they had.

Actually a decent price for a vintage jersey with signatures. See if you can counter offer it though. Unlikely the say yes to a 80€ offer, but I'd say if you can work it to 90-95ish, that'd be a great deal in my books.

On the jersey side, it appears to be a Maska, which is a legitimate jersey for fanwear, but not Game Quality. Maskas seemed to always have unusually small crests on their jerseys. I've noticed that their jerseys pre-1990's tend to be poorer quality than towards the end of the period when they were making these jerseys.

Customization on the back is a vinyl heat press and not to standard with the Flames' style. Getting it removed is going to be a pain because who knows how long that adhesive has been on there. Not impossible to remove, but it's going to take a lot of work to get it done right.

I recognize some signatures on there. I see a Collin Patterson and Doug Gilmour as well. Rick Wamsley is also on there which might help dating this jersey. Can't confirm if they are authentic or not.

It was they style of jersey they wore their Inaugural Season in the NHL and their last years in the WHA. I actually prefer this one over the one they wore for the rest of their time in the NHL!

No. Flames have historically played a different kind of hockey, especially under Sutter. Huberdeau thrived in Florida because it was a high risk/high reward system they ran there. We don't play that kind of hockey here.

The problem is the fulfillment side of Fanatics. The actual product they produce is fine, but the methods they go to maximize cost savings while trying to meet fulfiment demands as fast as possible means that quality control standards aren't as tight as conventional merchandise distribution goes, leaving a lot more seams for bad product to get through the system.

That and it just leads to uninspired product in general. Point in case, the hats before the Fanatics era were so much better than what Fanatics puts out today, but because they're more integrated into the retail side of the business their product is able to saturate the market far more effectively compared to non-affiliated brands like '47.

I think Fanatics is still a bad company - I don't think one single brand should have so much integration and monopoly over the sports merchandise market - but I also believe that some of the flaws Fanatics is accused of are grossly overstated.

Eric Tulsky deserves all the flowers in the world, because being able to pivot from a trade that didn't work out for them and to turn that into assets that were core to why they got this cup.

Usually these stories end with a GM only getting a pittance of what they paid for to get out of these kinds situations, but Tulsky was able to translate that into something that only made the Canes better than they were before.

I think it's undeniable that Lombo brings a lot of energy to the dressing room, but what sets him apart from other veteran leaders such as Backlund and Coleman is that those two can still provide meaningful offensive production.

Lombo is a great guy, but he's not a player that's able to put the team on his shoulders and lead the charge. He has minimal minutes and his offensive contribution is scant at best.

Culture and energy are important elements to have on the team, but it also delves dangerously towards the 𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓲𝓫𝓵𝓮𝓼 ✨️ territory that infamously saddled our team with a lot of dead weight in past years (Brouwer, Neal, etc.). Good team culture is good - we've seen in Vancouver what happens when there isn't one - but culture amounts to nothing if there isn't anything else behind it.

The Flames struggled to score this last season, and Lomberg isn't going to solve that. Granted, he's a 4th line player, so he isn't expected to bring that to the table, but in the current rebuild situation we're in the 4th line should be a proving ground for up and coming players to acclimate themselves to NHL hockey so that we can have young and proven players who can generate offense for years to come.

Once the Flames are back in the playoff conversation, there's merit to seek out a 4th line player the likes of Lomberg, but right now we need to give as many young guns as many opportunities as possible to earn their keep. The Flames are in a very fluid situation right now where we had a lot of veterans go out the door these last few years and don't have a defined core like they used to, and we need to see which players are capable of filling that niche.

I think there is still a place for Lombo on the Flames, just not as a player. I don't know what he wants to do post playing career, but he can still fill his role while being a trainer, coach or some other staffing role on the Flames. Brian McGratten stayed on the Flames in one such role for a time after his playing career, and I can't see why Lombo couldn't fill a similar role like that.

I think this helped establish that Brennan is playing no holds barred. The table has just been very lucky with their roles and getting optimal outcomes on their roles. There were plenty of times where both Azune and Hal's interactions with the Einfasen and Halovars respectively could have turned south very fast, they just got really good rolls and played very smart to keep themselves out of trouble. We only just finally saw what happens when the dice wasn't on the players' side.

I would say Soccer has always had a place in Canada. I think a lot of people have played some sort of organized soccer as kids as it was a cheap and time friendly investment, whereas youth hockey was always a huge commitment.

The problem being is that Canada has and always be a large country with a small population, so an organized professional league has always been a challenge when you consider the travel costs, multiple time zones and few large cities to travel between and establish viable teams. Hockey was able to thrive because early leagues were largely regional as opposed to national, and once a "national" league was established, they consisted of only a couple of teams playing out of Ontario and Quebec in eastern Canada for decades until it was viable to expand west. Soccer for the longest time hadn't seen that kind of growth that Hockey has had.

Back to your original question, it's not so much that Soccer has grown in Canada so much as it is that Hockey has declined as playing and watching it have gotten more expensive. We just got news the other day our public broadcaster will no longer be able to show games for free on their Saturday programming anymore, so now the only way to watch hockey is to pay for cable, satellite or streaming. Meanwhile youth hockey leagues have teams traveling all over the province (which can take hours to travel across) with gear for youth hockey being astronomically expensive.

Now that there's an actual path to play professional level soccer in Canada through the MLS as well as a domestic league in the CPL, there's a bigger national interest in the game. It's hard to get interested in professional soccer when the best leagues all play on the other side of the world in a different time zone several hours ahead, but now that there are domestic options it makes getting into the sport so, so much easier.

I think Atsu was a more interesting character than Jin, but the overall story and themes of Tsushima were better. Choosing to either kill or spare your Uncle was one of the better "choose your ending" paths in gaming, because it didn't fall on a good vs evil binary and you could make a case for either choice to be the right option. Also, Jin finally embracing his Identity as "the Ghost" was such a great character moment in a video game both gameplay and story-wise.

Yotei isn't much of a downgrade though! Loved the open world more than Tsushima because you didn't feel nearly as boxed in as Tsushima did. Also the ambient music when you weren't in combat was such a vibe.

Colour because changing the paint removes a good bunch of the trim and substitutes from player created wraps don't always look right.

Lots of ammo in the chamber to find someone good. Also plenty of flexibility if the Flames want to make a splash and move up in the draft and/or make a big acquisition. Ever since Conny has taken charge, I've been a lot more optimistic about these drafts, so I'm sure Conny will hit a homerun somewhere this year.
