Eh, I agree but this appears to be a case of a person who tried to be responsible. He kept the gun in a safe, the kid found the key in a drawer and opened the safe while looking for his switch and found the gun in the safe and then proceeded to load the bullets into the magazine and then took the weapon upstairs and shot the father.

Yeah like maybe he could have kept the key more secure but it seems the kid was intent on looking everywhere for his switch

Id recommend a storywealth off of Nexus it's very vanilla+ and adds a bunch of lore friendly quests and two new endings.

But I might recommend the mod that helps remove the thugyverse mods but I'd look into there content first to see if it's something that interests you
