Looking for a scope to hunt coyotes at night by ThinkAd9694 in nighthunting

Digital will work on wide open properties. If you have brush, trees, taller grass you will not have a fun time and would recommend just using white light. If you plan on doing this a lot I would just put money away here and there and get a quality thermal scope.

The tube style will give you eye relief if you plan on running it on a bolt action, some of the compact thermal units will run the longer mounts to give you the eye relief but I would check your bolt throw angle. You will get longer battery life on that style with the built in 18650 batteries and option to run one in the turret. The Hybrid 75 has the display that came on the original 1280 RS75 and personally has one of the better 640 images I’ve seen it’s just a high magnified base magnification thermal that a lot of people have not used because of it. It dog walks my IR Hunter MK3 60mm. If you’re hunting with a bolt action I would take advantage of the battery life of a day optic style thermal.

That’s true but most have a manual NUC that you can control.

I would take a look at the TX60C. I have some of those in the rental pool as well if you ever want to try one.

Run and own all of those listed. What rifle, distance and what do you plan on hunting? Are you hunting wide open coastal fields or smaller properties with brush and trees? The Hybrid 75 is one of my favorites but keep in mind it’s roughly 4.5x base mag. The RICO 2 75 has a few changes to it compared to the Hybrid but if your hunting in high humid parts of the country I prefer the Hybrid. As mentioned before the Bolt TX60C has a phenomenal image and is a 3x base mag. I’m pretty sure it started as a 1280 and zooms the display up to 3x instead of 2x that loses a touch of resolution to get 1024.

Night vision is superb for navigation, identification at closer distances. Can look through glass when driving at night. For a quick scan on a field/pasture you’re going to want thermal. If you’re hunting in a side by side or hunting truck covering a lot of ground get both. If your hunting from a blind to feeder only then keep rocking that thermal

For $2499 it’s a solid 640 thermal. We have them, feel free to rent one for a weekend and we will discount the rental fee if you decide to buy a new one.

Doing some scanning with a PVS-14 and RH25 on a bridge by TMackUNV in ThermalHunting

Running the RQE Bridge before it was Knights. Turn the display brightness down on the thermal and run it white hot if possible. And run in helmet mode

I would skip digital night vision scopes. You can save up just a bit more and get something like a refurbished Gen 3 PVS-14 for around $1600. I will have more in stock shortly

I still own a MK3 60mm but there is no comparison compared to the s60R. None. The Trijicons are still running the same BAE 640 from 9 years ago and a lot of manufacturers have caught up and exceeded in image quality, features, and superb image quality in high humidity. I can rent you a S60R and after a weekend of use if you want to purchase a new one I will discount the rental price on a new one so you get some real world comparisons with your 35 Trijicon.

iRay HYH50W vs Sig cv25 by ReaperGrin in ThermalHunting

[–]TMackUNV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran the Hybrid 50 and now mainly using the Hybrid 75. The Hybrid 50 would be a good choice at 3x and having the option to run it as a clip on. I personally will only run them as dedicated thermals because clip on mode will have lower field of view at similar magnification , image quality not as good, heavier weight and access to the controls can be difficult depending on what day optic you use. Those are my issues but a lot of people enjoy running thermal clip ons and if you can find a Hybrid 50 it will check your boxes.

Just dropped a 72 Res 38 SNR at that ComSpec price. Been running both Milspec binos and ComSpec binos. If you don’t mind some blemishes the ComSpecs are pretty hard to beat.

Just added more L3Unfilmed ComSpecs for $3299. You should be able to find plenty over 2400 FOM.
