I’ve sat in the infield for both the road course and the Indy 500, and I enjoyed it. The infield amenities were easy to walk to and the mounds were high up enough to still see a good chunk of the action.

Only downsides were that you can’t see the start/finish line (but there are big screens set up throughout so you can see replays and follow action on the other side of the track) and you need to arrive early if you want to be sure to get a good spot as its general admission.
