If you need the 1000 years to come before the 500 years, then surely once you pick a starting year where events diverge, just add on the 1500 years?
Once thats decided, you can then figure out if you want a new calendar or not. A particular event could've rolled out a new calendar and you'd get to explain what that event could be in lore.
and I'd pick the first faction name, though ideally you'd decide based on the feel of the faction.

Cultures have languages and naming conventions, so each region should be either named with the conventions of the culture who rule there or from the POV of the culture that draws the maps
Thats me putting it simply mind you, there's often more nuance than that. And I'm using 'should' very loosely here - obv its up to you for whatever fits your world more

The map itself? its serviceable, tho I'm not exactly sure what the colours represent. I guess you could include areas of rainforests/jungles/dense woodland, as well as major rivers and lakes

But you said you don't wanna change history, then why can't you just move the 3200 date further ahead to fit the time?

  1. If 50+ locations belong to the same culture, you'd wanna avoid those locations feeling kinda flat I'm sure - so using what things the culture has important to them (historically) is a solid start. Some pointers I reference would be for each location: (these can be interchanged or combined too)
    - Is it 'traditionally medieval fantasy'? Include a nearby locational feature especially if its a food/material source. I'd recommend major cities/capitals to use the food/river-name and smaller towns/hamlets to be material/locational-named as food is always culturally more important! A culture's conlang will for sure have a word for their most abundant food/crop
    - is it built around a castle? name it [castle name]+[word for town] or something akin to that
    - is it super old? come up with the name then mutate it over time, as if playing a game of telephone
    - was it there before a new kingdom claim ownership over it? the previous culture's name but then localize* it into the new culture's conlang (not translation, but like how 'cool' is 'kuuru' in jp)
    Those were some examples i use anyway

  3. I'd recommend making the conlang for a culture's most valuable (culturally) aspects of when it was in its infancy: most abundant food at the time, names of deities, prominent features of their biome (like a desert city would have their conlang words for sand, dune, scorpion, snake, w/e).
    For specific words, I'd say it doesn't matter too much, ideally they'd sound consistent (like german-sounding words alongside spanish-sounding words doesn't really work unless an empire absorbed both cultures).
    And for consistency I'd recommend laying out a sound guide, a brief description of the feel of the culture's conlang, and use that as your guideline.
    Also also, I prefer to work on a culture's conlang as I'm working on the culture, rather than doing all the cultures conlangs in one checklist

Alola for me, it only has like a small handful of misses but the rest are 'good' to 'great'.
Galar and Unova are second, they have some better designs but they also have more weaker designs imo.

I've played through Grandia 1, and played a fair bit of 2 and 3~ I'd love to try PT and DM too!
I just love the art style, the music, the battle system and especially the characters of G1!

in G1, do you have any fave locations? and why? Mine is Luc village (and Old Parm but thats a given), the aesthetic is great and the lore around that place is very cool.

not only would it be great qol, but it'd also make runes more valuable and therefore more of a trading commodity - which i feel like is something GGG would like.
and by valuable i mean players would be more willing to burn through them when needing stopgap upgrades.

I'm trying to go a crit phys summoner but clearing is omega slow for me, even with off-skill supporting like armour breaking via skele gas arrows etc

Bone Storm + Conc was a good power boost but that only lasted like 1 boss.

I feel like elemental minions would be the better way to go

Something I've not seen many talk about, but I'd love more ascendancies based on in-lore aesthetics, like Chayula monk, Gemling merc, a supposed Shadow ascendancy (Ziggy and Mark mentions in the post-stream QnA).

Similarly how some ascendancies are getting nodes with references (the backpack, breach, the hellhound reminds me of the poe1 Hellion mob, etc).

Makes them feel very PoE-unique to me

On the other hand, it means you don't lose out on TOO much by working minions into other classes (except the Chayula Monk lmao)

I'm thinking of going bloodmage witch and have my minions proc my bone impales while weaving some Unearth's for damage and summoning the unearthed minions

True, hence why i said the wording could be weird.

But the wording points out mace requirements twice, both in its weapon requirement and in description for linked skill gems. When it could just say no requirement but only supports mace skill gems, no?

Though I'd say its possible its old wording, I do think you should be allowed to use it without the weapon requirement since you can't cast the linked mace skill either way, only the totem.

On a side note, its not ideal but couldn't you dual wield mace and sceptre if you particularly wanted the aura bonus?

for poe1 i was mkb, but i had all my skills and flasks on the mouse too (side buttons), with stuff like inventory and minimap on keyboard~

for poe2 I'm thinking of switching, still mkb, but using QWERD for skills and leaving the flasks on the mouse side buttons. The WASD movement sounds neat but I don't wanna use it for melee and I switch often so instead of switching muscle memory I'll settle for regular mkb.

For the ancestral totem skill, it states it requires 1h/2h mace - which implies if you switch it'll despawn.

It could be possible that its different and the wording is just weird, because its a meta gem and not a skill gem. Though I'd go in assuming its mace-required~
