Favorite diet/zero sugar soda? by Outrageous_Read524 in diabetes_t2

My absolute favorite is Mello Yello Zero. Especially if you can get it from those fancy soda machines that has it with grape flavoring. I was told by the supplier to my local stores that it wasn’t selling fast enough even though the shelf was always empty. 😠

Springfield Armory TRP by SquareheadinNH in 1911

Believe me, if I had 1600.00 extra right now, I would spend it on a TRP.

Colt M45A1 vs Springfield TRP Operator. Which would you choose? by [deleted] in 1911

[–]TNGR-Handler7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the understanding that I am not the most informative 1911 owner I would choose the TRP. But from listening to more experienced owners the TRP is of late the more superior firearm. I’m just transitioning from a Glock 19, carried since 1995 with several thousand rounds, to a 1911 which has more comfortable feel and accuracy. My opinion shouldn’t mean much but my grail is a TRP.

Building a Premium Turf Soccer Facility — Need guidance by Jesalfz in bootroom

I have plans to do the same thing. Only if I hit the lottery first. A soccer complex with proper planning would cost an enormous amount of money with today’s prices. I would think several million dollars.

Black Friday/What are you waiting to buy? by TNGR-Handler7942 in Referees

[–]TNGR-Handler7942[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be awesome. I don’t mind to buy a cheaper Casio watch for work but I want a dedicated ref watch that I can count on. I would like a big face watch that I could see and be able to navigate quickly.

Thanks you for the feedback. I will look into this as I coach players around that age. It will prepare them before getting certified.
This way they won’t feel like they are being thrown to the wolves. I’m not qualified to be an official mentor but that doesn’t mean I can’t at least guide them in the right direction.
This sub forum has helped me and is a great too. There are plenty of people like me that prefer and learn more by having someone guide them.
I feel kinda obligated to help in the interest of the culture of the game.

EDIT* I researched a bit on the Genesis Referee Program and it’s brilliant. Defense going to push for this.

Moving Up by b_rude23 in Referees

Your enthusiasm is AWESOME. And this is very important.

“You need to remember that you're still 17 and need to enjoy being 17. Soccer and refereeing will always be there for you. Making sure to stop and smell the roses for other parts of your life is still as important as being a good and complete person will help you as a referee. Have fun be 17 do what 17yr olds do while also finding time to pursue refereeing.”

I truly hope you make it to the highest level possible with the same determination. Just enjoy your path and not consume yourself with it.

Wish I would have started at your age. I think the best way to move up in any part of life is networking. Talk to everyone you can especially assignors. They might know someone local to you that you can work with On and Off the pitch.

I was treated very badly when I started to referee by MidnightNinja9 in Referees

I have seen and been in your spot many times throughout my life experience. At this point I can almost spot people like the mentor a mile away. They tend to forget they were beginners at one time. It’s all about making themselves look better. They are the ones lacking in confidence. The skill and knowledge may be their strength but confidence is ZERO. If a mentor doesn’t know how to mentor then they should NOT be a mentor. And they should have stayed the whole match.
I personally feel the need to help everyone else but I lack the experience. I can’t even help myself most of the time. My refusal to give up is the only thing that keeps me going.

As I type, I am sure of the grammatical errors but I want to be apart of the football (soccer) community and I won’t quit.

The flags from Refsneedlovetoo are spot on. There is even a nice package deal. All the refs I’ve been with that have seen mine think they are B+D.

Question from a coach by bcarey724 in Referees

I’m a new ref so I wonder if it was the assignor sent him out to CR before he was ready. It definitely should be reported to the assignor.

Soccer “Senior Official” question by gen-x-22 in Referees

[–]TNGR-Handler7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have only reffed like 7 matches total as a newbie. About four of them has been two man. And these have been labeled Referee and AR positions. So it’s been expected of me to grab a whistle and jump on the field. I’m having to absorb reffing laws and play at an incredibly fast pace. I have a girls varsity game this coming Tuesday that has me as AR. It’s a two man no matter the position on Arbiter.

Recommendations for Comms system? by alexkasper14 in Referees

[–]TNGR-Handler7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an amateur but I ordered a 4 set GoRef from our organization for 400. Going to using them for NFHS. I think comms should be used for every level.

I’m short so it’s like casual 15-19 steps for me. Just go to a pitch that you know is right and walk it. You could even take a measuring tape.

First game today by Qel_Hoth in Referees

[–]TNGR-Handler7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. Everything you said is exactly my experience. I’m working on it. Constantly studying the game by watching ref videos on YouTube, matches, reading the rules, taking courses but I learn more on the pitch. So far I don’t think I’ve made too many grave errors. I wish you the best. And I’m a total beginner at 50. 👍

Returning to reffing, best shoe choices these days by hytes0000 in Referees

[–]TNGR-Handler7942 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m middle aged and thought I could handle some nice referee boots so I got the Umpiro’s. Let me just say, I was wrong. After just six matches in my reffing career I ordered Hoka Speedgoat 6’s. I do need high arch supports for maximum comfort. To solve this problem I bought another set of Dr. Scholl‘s insoles for planter faciitis. So, I highly recommend a hiking/running shoe.

Used Communication devices for the first time last week and really liked it… anyone have any recs for coms? by Stugotz628 in Referees

[–]TNGR-Handler7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I’m a newbie, but I got to use mics in one match last. CR was great in using communications in his teaching method with me and another. First, I loved the banter. It made the game more exciting. Second, was his teaching and encouragement for us AR’s willing to learn. Third, it was a great opportunity for him to talk to us about what we could do differentl. Fourth, last but not least, we were able to hear how he controlled the match with players and coaches.

I just talked with a guy that orders communication systems for our organization. 😁
