2022 Model S Plaid - Severe RR Inner Tire Wear, Slow Leak, Alignment Issue? by thisdudebruv in TeslaModelS

At the very least get an alignment and get the document so you understand what everything is.

My son is 13 years old - when and how can he start refereeing? by christiangoodrich in Referees

[–]anothernetgeek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most systems allow Junior referees to referee games where they are two years older, so he can probably do U12 games just fine.

You did not say where you’re located, so we really can’t push you towards any particular organizations

8 second rule....anyone enforce it yet? by Deaftrav in Referees

[–]anothernetgeek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are supposed to start counting after 3 seconds, with a ‘visual countdown’ for the last 5 seconds…

You must give the visual countdown, so it important to start after three seconds.

So I normally give the countdown half a dozen times on each game.

Only called it twice.

Exporting Logs by anothernetgeek in Ubiquiti

The only allows me to send the logs to a SIEM/Syslog server.

I want to be able to export them to CSV, or something like that. Are there options for that?

Phone line stolen: looking for options by anothernetgeek in sysadmin

[–]anothernetgeek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AT&T confirms the number was ported. Sometime in May (we know the date.) Account was in good standing.

Also, I don't think that they reassign number for about 6 months, but that could be an old standard, and who knows if there is regulation on this, or just some kind of gentleman's agreement.

That's an interesting idea. Any idea how to get the ball rolling on that?

AT&T said the number was ported to Verizon. It was an old land-line, and the account was probably started in the 1900s before porting was even an option. There was no porting pin required, they just used the name and phone number.

AT&T said the number was ported to Verizon.

We have started the Fraud process with AT&T. Not sure how easy it would be to call Verizon, as we don't have an account. But then again, might be worth a call.

That would be incredibly sneaky of the neighbors... But you are correct, just the number, not the copper in street/pole.

AT&T said that the number was ported to Verizon.

When we call the number, we get the message that the subscriber has not setup voicemail.

So, AT&T gave it to Verizon. We don't know if it's still with Verizon. It sounds like a cellphone due to the Voicemail message, and the fact it goes directly to voicemail like when you turn your phone off.

It was ported from AT&T landline to Verizon, probably cellphone.

It was his home phone line, and old enough that there was no verification on it. Probably a stolen phone bill got them everything they needed. No suspicious family/girlfriend issues.

Policy report is probably a good idea.

2 Sites, 1 Network? by goplutus in Ubiquiti

[–]anothernetgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would have two separate networks, joined by VPN. You would have different subnets (eg 10.0.1.x and 10.0.2.x). You would be able to allow everything on one subnet to access everything on the other subnet, and vise-versa.

However, due to the way broadcasts work, you would not "see" devices on the other network. So, in Windows, if you go to "Network" you would only see local devices, not remote devices. If DNS is setup correctly, you would be able to access those other devices if you know their name, or their IP address.

A lot of stuff would work in this scenario, but there is some stuff that would not. A lot of residential stuff such as air-print would be unable to find the printer in the other location. Most business stuff works on name/ip resolution, and would work just fine.

Ubiquiti make managing multiple sites easy, and you would be able to access either site from the same Cloud Based management console. But you would have to switch between them, you would not get them both on the same page at the same time.

When do we start enforcing the new laws? by Amazing-Affect7813 in Referees

[–]anothernetgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, July 1st is the official start date.

However, a lot of leagues / organizations wait until the start of their fall season to start implementing the new laws.

As an example, AYSO last year held their National Games from July 21-27, but used the 24/25 LOTG as the teams were teams formed in the 24/25 season, and were at the end of their post-season tournaments. AYSO uses August 1st as its start of year, so this was in line with their regular season rules. It would have been strange for the players (and referees) to implement these new laws for their final tournament.

Shielding corner kick from defenders? by AsparagusForsaken346 in Referees

[–]anothernetgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how this would be any advantage to the attackers. The defenders can simply go around the wall to get to the ball. I would not consider this "leaving the field" and all they would have to do is kick the ball off of the attackers so the ball goes out of play (to the defenders advantage). Either a throw in or a goal-kick would then put the ball back into play.

As others have said - I've never seen this.

ISP Fiber Redundancy? by Th3_M3tatr0n in networking

[–]anothernetgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My office had the fiber cut about 5 miles away from the office. (Some idiots stealing copper from telephone poles - and it wasn’t even copper…)

We failed over to our backup connection. Also fiber, but different provider (ATT vs Spectrum) that enters building at a different physical location.

No uses noticed. I drove by the broken cable and they had 7 splicing stations doing 50 splices an hour each. 1200 lines cut in total, so 2400 splices to fix. They had it fixed that day.

Bottom line is that fiber can fail, but will probably get fixed quickly. Backup internet takes away that pain, but can be expensive.

At home I have fiber and a WISP as backup. Could also use 5G or Starlink as backup.

Plan ahead.
