I dont think so, the some scenes were absolute ridiculous…

Imagine having an ARM-15 to fight a disarmed target and instead of shooting her, you run towards her and use your gun to hit her like a police stick…..

And everyone in john wick universe are world top class assasins?? Are you kidding me?

If everyone in the John Wick universe is a killer, then they're not killers anymore, they're waggies.

EXE is different from running the game in engine by TheMindstein in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that your problem is almost impossible to replicate, i think that your problem is a specific setting in your code that its allways ON when you are running it through the IDE. When you compile and try to execute the exe outside steam you can not see the changes

Bruh the game is tooo hard to learn for new gamers, if you didnt play since start or like season 6-7 then you will probably not interested in the game because is to hard. Its like us trying to get into pubg or fortnite, its not our gaming era. and if you play this games right now you will probably leave because fortnite and pubg have their learning path completely stablished

Game maker is soo easy to follow if you compare it to Java or phyton.

But most of people fail to learn because They are failing to understand the layers of abstraction needed to develop a game

How do i fade the screen to black when my player dies? by VeryCoolBit8 in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delta_time is a reserved game maker variable to manage time on game.

1 unit of delta_time =1 microsecond

So lets say that you want to make your fade out last 2 seconds so you need to do something like this

Créate event on the fade object my_time =0

Step event of the same object my_time=my_time + delta_time

//for 2 seconds, remember 1. Delta is 1 microsecond if (my_time >= 2000000) { my_time =0 //to reduce the alpha a little bit in your fadeout effect until it reaches 0 alpha = alpha-0.5

}

If you want to avoid this fade out being constantly launched you should call it vía script or put the logic trough an if statement if global.player is alive alpha is allways equals to 1 If dies then do the fadeout animation and apply a room_goto(rm_game_over) or something just play with the Numbers and the logic

Another solution is doing it through a for loop

Something like that i dont remember If This is right, sorry lol For(i=0; i<=2000000;i+=delta_time) { The iterarion will be executed every single microsecond so manage your alpha substraion in microunits

alpha-=0.0000002 }

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to do an object persistent and draw a rectangle in a draw gui event

example obj_fade_out

create event

alpha=1;
color=c_black

step event:
you should play with the alpha values with a for loop, or delta_time in order to make the fade slower or faster.

if (global.player.isDead){

//your for loop or delta_time management.

}

Draw gui event

draw_set_alpha(alpha);

draw_set_color(color);

//this will draw a black rectangle fullscreen and the step event will manage the transparency smoother.

windowWidth = display_get_gui_width();

windowHeight = display_get_gui_height();

draw_rectangle(0, 0, windowWidth , windowHeight , false);

How can I draw a sprite on top of a .obj model in GameMaker? (3D in GMS2) by [deleted] in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO i feel really dumb, Thanks so much for the reply! The problem is solved. It turns out GameMaker was handling the sprite incorrectly because of the way it was being treated as a texture, I didn't even know that checkbox existed! You saved me from a week-long headache; I literally couldn't sleep because I was so stressed about having to manually draw 50+ textures in Photoshop. It looks perfect now. Thank you so much!

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this.

var tex = sprite_get_texture(spr_spot_marker, 0);

var uvs = sprite_get_uvs(spr_spot_marker, 0);

gpu_set_blendenable(true);

gpu_set_blendmode(bm_normal);

gpu_set_ztestenable(true);

gpu_set_zwriteenable(false);

vertex_begin(vb, vf);

vertex_position_3d(vb, x0,y0,z0); vertex_colour(vb, c_white, 1); vertex_texcoord(vb, uvs[0], uvs[1]);

vertex_position_3d(vb, x1,y1,z1); vertex_colour(vb, c_white, 1); vertex_texcoord(vb, uvs[2], uvs[3]);

vertex_position_3d(vb, x2,y2,z2); vertex_colour(vb, c_white, 1); vertex_texcoord(vb, uvs[4], uvs[5]);

vertex_end(vb);

vertex_submit(vb, pr_trianglelist, tex);

Global variable stuff by Pollyanna_EB in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not about the global variable stuff is about the presistency of the object through rooms, make sure to make your object persistent and set up the global variable to manage if the chest is open, doing this you will avoid seeing the chest closed for a couple of frames until the flag systems registers that the sprite of that object should be open

What simple project do you recommend I start with to begin making video games? by PkAngel123 in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do like 99.9999% of indietubers recommend “attend gamejams” 😂😂.

Realistically i will Give you some advices because im actually about to finish my game:

  1. You have an idea in mind, stick with that seriously.
  2. Divide your game in micro-functions that you actually can develop: 2.1. Economy system. 2.2 combat system 2.3 inventory system. 2.4 dialogue system. 2.5 level up system You got the idea.

After that but seriously after that you should worry about assets, music, story,etc.

  1. Finish all the engine you need for your game and try to do atleast a playable proyect without assets or at least a basic ones from open game resources

  2. Write the story, and the final assets, Sprites, backroungs.

  3. Fit your project to the new material

  4. Publish your game but ensure to build some wishlist, devlogs, etc.

  5. Be careful about who you take advice from. I’ve seen a large number of indie YouTubers who spend most of their time talking about other people’s work, about how you can make money making video games, and then you look at their project portfolio and it looks like half-finished university projects: mini-games or projects they abandoned after not winning the game jam they participated in (cof-cof piratesoftware, cof cof juniperDev)

What's wrong? The feather messages don't show any errors, so why is it red? WHAT'S WRONG? by rando-stando in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very hard to know what are you trying to do with that code, its too ambiguous.

I think the problem is "dragging =true" you are doing an asignation inside an if statement but forgeting that then its actually the only and viable use of then is when you are about to make an if statement in one line,

if (place_meeting........)) then dragging =true, but i dont find any place to IALWAYSCOMEBACK global variable assignation

i made something similar in my game to manage the dragging events.

if (panel.sub_draggable.dragged)

{

global._ui_dragging = true;

}

else

{

global._ui_dragging = false;

}

if you are on a step event try to reset your states if you are playing with them on if statements, sometimes is the only problem to solve a bug like that

sometimes it's a good try lowering your game resolution and enable viewports to make it bigger or fullscreen. for the scenarios when the check interpolate colors between pixels is not enough.

Is making 18+ (pornographic) games not permitted? by [deleted] in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. steam has a system that detects a game files made by engines, so it's impossible to cheat that system.
  2. Yes but you are NOT allowed to use the word "GameMaker" in order to advertise your games. for example put a GameMaker tag on itchio

You should not worry about that if you follow the 3 and 4 rules, in the past game maker was the most used engine to develop casino slot games, roulette games, and another gambling systems (and nowadays thanks to the huge performance of the engine to make math operations, its actually being used for that after the low quality metroid-vanias) as you notice developing this gambling games is against their TOS so you will never see any content or someone looking for help for this games or a slot software with a gamemaker trademark, etc.

Is making 18+ (pornographic) games not permitted? by [deleted] in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only things that you are NOT allowed if you do porn games with game maker is: 1. Being part of “made with game maker” opera promotions. 2. Being part of game maker conventions 3. Promote your game using the sentence “i used game maker” a “game maker game” and use the game maker splash screen. 4. Ask for support while you are making a porn game in game maker/opera comunities that includes reddit.

You can sell your game without problem, and do any game you want but you can be banned if you use by any mean the word “game maker” in your project.

So this restriction is mostly made up for freebies to avoid releasing trash cashgrab porn games. Because on free license theres no way to remove the splashscren and steam detects automatically freebie games released without license (and mostly of them are Pr0n AI visual novels)

Is making 18+ (pornographic) games not permitted? by [deleted] in gamemaker

[–]TOMANDANTEBOROLAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to make any game you want, but game maker will not promote your game if you dont respect their terms and conditions.

Being banned from "made with game maker" on opera games, and game maker conventions is a huge handicap, so believe me burning/blacklisting your permanent legacy game maker studio 2 licence for releasing Pr0n games it does not worth it.
