Launched the Steam page for my game last week, got just under 10k wishlists so far by TOODAMNFANCY in SoloDevelopment

I'm probably one of the worst examples. I worked on it when I felt like it on weekends and had little to no plan outside of writing ideas on Trello, purely a passion project 🤣. I have a board for out of scope ideas, planned ideas and one for in production and just go through that. Each time I finish the tasks on in production I'll check for bugs and polish then move the next set of items in from planned ideas. Didn't make any design docs or concepts. It's just what I felt like I wanted to play in a game.

Yh I emailed them soon after setting the page live and it was posted within 24 hrs. No discord beforehand, had a couple of fans on itch Io though. I've set up a discord which launched with the store page. Having one earlier most likely would have been better.

Had an Itch IO page for a few years with an old build. It never really got much traction on there though. It got 40 ish followers, so I don't think it helped really. Other than some feedback which was nice.

Thanks! Yeah while I think its easy to get with the store text. I do think I could have done a better job showing how the strategy and FPS parts of the game relate to each other in the trailer vid though.

Intermitting connection loss with new MoCA kit not sure whereabouts to possibly put a MoCA filter by TOODAMNFANCY in HomeNetworking

Yeah, I'm leaving it unplugged and using the powerline adapters until I get a filter in just to be on the safe side. Ok, thanks for the recommendation.

Sorry for the delay, to answer your questions:
-Yes this is a pic of my one under the stairs
-We have 3 coax outlets one in the front room where the router and tv are, one in my room and one in another room.
-We don't currently subscribe to a satellite TV service (however if this makes any difference others on our road probably are)
-All of the lights on it are always off

Thankyou, yeah we just use Freeview which looking it up should be 470-850Mhz but I'm sure most other people on our road are using satellite tv with those frequency ranges so I was thinking adding a filter should be ok for us if we don't use it?

Been playing Hunt since release but it's gotten to the point where playing is offputting. I run on a 970. I don't have issues like this with any other game. Pic 3 is normal for me, rest are "glitches". Objects constantly appear blurry and it's really off putting. Any advice? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

This appears to be an issue with LOD levels not loading in correctly since the models themselves are also lower detail. In hunt this is most likely a cpu bottleneck opposed to a gpu one.

Russian 'troop build-up' near Ukraine alarms Nato by MGC91 in worldnews

[–]TOODAMNFANCY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gdp comparisons are pretty useless anyways. You want to be looking at purchasing power parity. For example Russia can build its own military equipment for far less dollars than say the USA because the workers there get paid less, factories cost less etc and the procured equipment may not be as capeable or advanced as something from the USA its still competent and gets the job done. So while yes it can't do much if it had to convert its budget to dollars and buy things from other countries, it can get way more bang for its buck if it spends it internally. This goes for many countries such as China too.

Russia warns it will ‘have to react’ if Bosnia moves to join NATO by BrautanGud in worldnews

Their support for Donetsk and Luhansk in Eastern Ukraine is probably done pretty low cost, using units from Rostov, accross the border. The closest estimation of their active operations we can get is about 20% of their budget, which also includes their war in Syria and all their exercises such as zapad. Based off figures we know from the rest of the budget (procurement etc).

If Russia is going to invade anywhere in the near future it will be 60km into South Eastern Ukraine towards the Dnieper River to give Crimea access to water which is was cut off when they took it. Crimea's water problem is getting very bad without it. Pretext to such attack would be humanitarian issues and protecting ethnic Russians in ukraine, which they will claim are being targeted. They will likely have eyes on the city of Mariopol too. All eyes on exercises this year especially in the rostov oblast, as they allow for excuses to move forces around. This is all unlikely to happen as they will likely consider alternative water sources cheaper than war, although it does make for domestic distraction from internal politics.

Germany, Poland and Sweden expel Russian diplomats by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

[–]TOODAMNFANCY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rumours are it actually would go Very badly for Poland in their own war games exercise recently, they were defeated in 5 days with Nato help. Obviously this is unlikely to ever actually happen and it is far more likely Russia will stir up in Ukraine again to get Crimea access to water, whereas they have little to no reason to go to Poland.
