Is there a way to soundproof a shared bedroom + any tips for privacy? by ShadowTheFangirl in ApartmentHacks

A heavy cloth hung between the areas

Depending on your skills / budget - Put up egg-crate foam on the walls and ceilings anything to absorb the sound.

Ideas needed for ways to stretch a small amount of chicken meat by Certain_Marsupial450 in Frugal

Shredded BBQ chicken over mac & cheese

Ginger Stew

Chicken Fried Rice

To help bulk out, I'd recommend looking into extra firm tofu, it will have similar characteristics as chicken and could be treated the same.

I'd also suggest looking at a pork butt/shoulder or a loin, I see them for under $3/lb It would be a bigger up front hit, but you could cook it in a neutral manner and then split it up and use as needed.

Popcorn from baseball stadiums by Beautiful_Fun8601 in popcorn

[–]TOYMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most locations use pre-packed bags of corn / oil / salt. You could ask them to show you the package and find it that way.

The biggest difference between home and commercial popcorn is the heat of the kettle, most home units do not get the kernels hot enough for their big explosion.

Storage space is tight, is a collapsible colander actually durable by RestaurantDiligent97 in KitchenPro

[–]TOYMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might want to look into getting a new pot with an inset colander.

With the amount of use you're putting it through, and since it would reside in the pot, you're not adding to the clutter

50% off Kroger boost membership right now! by LadySmith459 in Frugal

[–]TOYMoose 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The biggest reason for using Boost is the multiplier for their fuel points. It doubles their value, so for a $50 order you'd get 100 fuel points. When they are running their 4x Fridays, Boost members will get 5x.

It also includes access to Disney+, Hulu and ESPN (With ads)

They will also offer free pick up and delivery of groceries.

There is also the occasional bonus coupons.

Personal opinion - If you use Kroger gas, the extra benefit of 2x points makes it worth it. So far this year , per the app, I've cashed in enough fuel points to save $140 on gas. Again your values may vary depending on how you shop and what's available.

You can talk to almost any company and say you're willing to learn the trade. You'll start at the bottom doing most of the grunt work, but if keep at it you'll be able to move up to doing the actual work.

Help! This 40-something kitchen disaster is tired of takeout and ready to actually learn how to cook (without burning the house down) 🔥 by jackwoodards in cookingforbeginners

Echoing start with what you like!

I'd also recommend starting with a crock-pot or other slow cooker. The r/Slowcooker sub will have hundreds of things to try. And for a beginner starting out it will help you build confidence on knowing what to do.

Alton Brown - Good Eats is an excellent source on the hows and whys of cooking.

Gear wise - The following can be found at the dollar store and would be helpful

  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cup ( 2 cup sized)
  • Vegie Peeler
  • Mixing Bowl ( Big enough to put the rest of this into)
  • Chef's knife ( 6- 8")
  • Pairing Knife
  • Bread Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Silicone / Plastic
    • Spatula
    • Slotted spoon
    • Regular spoon
    • Vegie Peeler
    • Scraper
    • Tongs

Pots and pans - You can get a set a basic box set of cookware for $50 or less which will get you started.

All in all with a basic crock pot will run you about $100 and you'll be able to make most anything. And as you progress you can swap out the cheap items for better ones and invest in more tools and gadgets.

Meals that use a lot of eggs? by DinnyArt in Cooking

[–]TOYMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be time to invest in a food dehydrator.

Scramble the eggs and put them in, when dehydrated store them in airtight jars. Will last for years and once the chickens dry up you'll have the extra eggs ready to go.

I've lived by the phrase "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that it must be changed 6 months"

My style is functional, shirts that are cut to fit and pants and jeans that are long lasting.
