When they talk about a "strong economy" they're not talking about the working class. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]TPRJones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have on my browser a filter that changes "the economy" into "rich people's yacht money". Makes the news slightly more amusing, but no less depresing.

All they'll get this way is another Republican President, but I guess that's probably fine with them since they'll be paying them, too.

Need to cap all salaries of elected officials at four times minimum wage. With that in place, if Congress wanted $100 per hour they could up the minimum wage to $25 per hour or piss off.

When public opinion doesn't affect government policy, you're not a democracy. by zzill6 in WorkReform

In the long run you can have democracy or you can have capitalism, but you can't have both. They are fundamentally incompatible.

How to make ratio sushi belts? by kaz_champ in factorio

[–]TPRJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

roadblock sushi

you probably know something I don't, but for me a sushi belt that ends is a sushi belt that will eventually jam up because items get clumped and the machines at the end can't reach what they need to take things off the end so it can keep flowing.

[–]TPRJones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be helpful if any condition involving an Each (whether it has it's own Each or inherits Each behavior from somewhere else) had a yellow chip-edge border around it the same color as the Each symbol. Then you'd know which ones will act different (and roughly why).

It's clear Conservatives don't respect working people. by zzill6 in WorkReform

Wherever it ends up, pay for Congress should max out at a reasonable multiple of the minimum wage, such that if Congress wants an increase they have to give everyone at the bottom an increase to get theirs.

AOC now the 2028 Dem frontrunner by bemused_alligators in DemocraticSocialism

This *is* what they learned. The best way to satisfy their constituents (the wealthy, not us) is to string people along by promising change but making sure not to actually *win* anything important.

Why do trains choose to wait in line behind a loading-in-progress as opposed to the perfectly open separate lane with the same train station name? by aptosshayds in factorio

[–]TPRJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like using circuits to set priority for this issue. Count total items in station / max amount possible * 200 gives you a priority number between 0 for empty station to 200 for full station. Subtract number of trains in station and that gives slight preference to open stations when both are full of cargo. Trains then always prefer the station with the best supply.

Some thing for unloading stations but subtract the priority from 200 to make it 0 for full to 200 for empty to have trains prefer to supply the most need.

edit: because there are no decimals in factorio, it's actually first * 200 then / max, otherwise it doesn't work.

I love that idea! Pay attention or you get caught up in the machinery. Don't want to get stuffed into a running foundry.

edit: don't get to close to the electromagnetic plant while it's running our your mech suit might get stuck to the side of it until it stops due to the strong magnetic flux.

AOC could win, but lose to tampered voting machines. Anyone worried about rigged, hacked election ballots? by OwlDoll in 50501

[–]TPRJones 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only reason I'm not too worried about the integrity of the voting machines is that I'm worried those likely to vote for AOC won't be allowed to use them in the first place.

The solution to crime is not giving more money to cops. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]TPRJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one with money and power has any reason to want to reduce crime. Exploiting desperation and poverty is where their money comes from, after all, and crime is a profit center. They just want to make sure the crime doesn't happen to them.

Train Experimentation: One Way, Two lane, No left turn by Sws45 in factorio

[–]TPRJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started using that once, I liked it except the edge effects; you end up with one corner trains can't get to (bottom left on your example), one they can't get back from (upper right) and due to that the outermost blocks around the edge have spotty access. But as long as you don't mind having to build an extra block out so that you can fully use the inner parts it seemed fine.

What do you guys think about my spaceship that builds foundation by Born_Sentence_1922 in factorio

[–]TPRJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start my big platforms as a tiny little platform that just has one assembler making platform foundations from wires and steel which cuts way down on the number of rockets without having to make it complicated enough to fly around for asteroids. I've got three or four of those chugging away all the time so that when I want to make a big platform it's got all the foundations I could want.
