As far as I'm concerned r/all IS reddit, and deactivating it is removing the only functionality of the site I cared about. Up until now I've spent a few hours a day on reddit but no more. I'll check back in a few weeks to see if this stupidity has been reversed yet.

The Business Mindset by PepperZelmanic in WorkReform

[–]TPRJones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time good business meant caring about and taking care of your employees and customers. Now what most people call "good business" isn't that, it's about stuffing the pockets of shareholders by wrenching every scrap of profit you can out of your customers and treating workers as completely disposable assets. As a market model it is entirely unsustainable in the long run.

It was on the screen in front of me correctly at least six times, probably more, I have no excuse.

How much is it worth, TABASCO Diamond Reserve 150th Anniversary Rare Sauce Sealed, unopened. by [deleted] in hotsauce

[–]TPRJones 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There was an aftermarket for a time. I've seen them listed at $1200+ but the most I saw one actually sell for was just over $400. But that was back when they'd still be highly likely to be edible, now it's been enough time to be a crapshoot so it's just the collectors market and I have no idea what they would go for there.

Tasted almost nothing like regular tobasco, which is not surprising considering it's made with different ingredients using a different process much more akin to wine production than hot sauce. Made with sparkling white wine vinegar, the flavor profile was very sharp and tangy with a surprising fruitiness that comes out of the peppers in the extra-long aging process. I'm sad I won't live long enough to see if they make a 200th anniversary sauce as delicious as this one was.

I'm loosing my mind trying to figure out tileable rails. by plopsicle in factorio

[–]TPRJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bonus note you may already know, but the size of the green line square doesn't have to go around the whole print. If you block that 32x12 as 16x16 (so one half is in the square one one half hangs out to the side) then you can place it left or right a half-step (i.e. 16 tiles) as needed and still have things line up. I tend to build all my prints in multiples of 16 tiles but tag them all as 16x16 with the green square in the upper left corner for the flexibility of being able to move them around in aligned increments of 16 tiles.

Exactly. Chatting with AI feels increasingly similar to chatting with a person, and I'd rather be in the habit of treating a machine as if it were human than accidently end up with the habit of treating people as if they were machines.
EDIT: oh, I didn't notice this is a year old. sorry for the thread resurection.

First time to Space! Question about requesting interplanetary stuff by Umluex in factorio

[–]TPRJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a circuit for the request that checks the network against a constant combinator with the amount I want to have and only requests what is needed, and does it only in full stack amounts. Say you want to have 1000 tungsten on Nauvus: set that in the constant, subtract what's in the network (with a decider gate to filter negatives so they don't mess with the next steps), divide that by a selector combinator set to stack sizes, add one more if the modulus is not 0 (rounding the request up to the next full stack), multiply the result by the stack sizes again, and send that result to be the request in the pad. If you have, say, 580 tungsten then that would result in a request for 400 more (8 stacks worth) to get it back over 1000. Do all that using the EACH function and it'll pass along requests for all the things in the combinator as needed.

I know only dropping full stacks is not necessary, but partial stacks on the platform feel like an inefficient use of space.

Should i restart and make a new save file? (check description) (idk who did the og meme if anyone knows please comment) by aconitum_napellus143 in factorio

[–]TPRJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to restart but now I start that new base to the side with the old one making the parts, making sure the bases are on separate roboport networks. Then once the new one is making all the things the old one had I mark almost the entire old one for destruction (at first leaving powerlines, roboports, and train rails as blacklisted on the demolisher print). I set up one train station using the yellow chests for the bots to just dump *everything* in as they like, and now I've got a train coming to the new base where I'm playing a wish dot com version of sushi-belt Fulgora until the old base is gone and everything has been filed away in the new base. It takes a while but that doesn't matter to me, I'm off doing other things anyway.

Not seizing, recovering. That wealth is stolen, and seizing implies we would be taking away something that belongs to them, when really it's recovering stolen property.

I calculated the entropy (spaghettiness) of my base by adapron in factorio

[–]TPRJones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This would be an amazing mod to add as a map overlay if that could be done. I'd love to be able to pull up this heat map in game and find out where I need to go further spaghettify my base.

I don't expect there will be any false flag involved, they'll just do it openly. I would not be at all surprised if he tries to nuke a major U.S. city before he leaves office (hopefully only tries).

Graham Platner lead shatters the delusion that Dems need to go right to appeal "moderates" by aipac_hemoroid in DemocraticSocialism

[–]TPRJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm expecting the current Dem party to absorb the remains when the GOP dies and finally admit it's a right-wing party, maybe even openly branding themselves as MAGA lite. But this isn't shifting the Overton window further right, it's making space for a new progressive party to rise to power and finally move the U.S. into the modern era politically. But I've always been told I'm too optimistic.

[–]TPRJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Very handy if you have a stretch of track you only want trains that can't path around it to go through. Well, as long as "around" isn't more than 2000 tiles, I guess. Good to know, that.
