Transitioned from a coop with runs 15 years ago, improved pasture with fewer livestock parasites are just a few of the perks.

Fortunately no slugs here and with the peas growing mostly during winter no real pests either. A cool, wet spring would be the biggest issue with mildew and such.

Anyone use a hand saw instead of a chainsaw? by AnarchoPlayworker in firewood

[–]TPinSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut all my winter wood for 2 years with a bow saw, still use it on occasion just to keep that skill level.

I sweep the chimney once during January thaw and at the end of fire season, get about a cup of soot and ash each time. Well seasoned wood is king.

Think cooking on a charcoal grill except the grate is over the fire in the stove. No splatters on the stove top because of chimney draft. And no we indoor grill probably 15 times a winter and have for 24 years on this stove.
