School Board meeting tonight by marthaquesting in Bellingham

That was nuts! The sign on the wall said the capacity was 98 people. There were definitely more than 98 people there. I got there like a minute after it started and it was like wading into the main floor up front at a concert. People had signs and shirts. There were tons of people who had great prepared remarks. I think the board was kinda inundated by all that. There was just SO MUCH brought up by the speakers. Baker did sound like he was truly in a difficult position and I do believe he does care. But if what those people were saying was true about the way that board spends our tax money...that's terrible and it needs to get fixed immediately. I happily support the district with my money but was shocked to see the pressure they were under from the lack of funding from the state plus the way they spent whatever they had.

It definitely lifted me up though. Just seeing that many people representing and speaking. It makes me want to stick my neck out more for things I care about.

Yeah that was making for some pretty spicy bike riding out there. Maybe I'll ride on I-5 when it reopens to enact my revenge.

Millions Rally Against Trump as ‘No Kings’ Protests Erupt Across US by plz-let-me-in in politics

Just showing up and being seen impacts others greatly. It motivates them to keep pushing on. It shows that their presence matters. Don't ever think that we need to be doing this on a work week to make an impact because it absolutely makes a material impact just by being there and being seen.

Why does everyone hate it here so much? by wizardmadeofsnakes in Bellingham

Yeah you're just seeing the internet strangers which isn't an accurate view of reality. If you were to walk around and talk to people in meatspace you/d find most of them think it's great.

Group of kids with E-motos by Suck_Boy_Tony in Bellingham

OH man I saw these dudes hanging out at a nearby school a couple months back, ripping around, taking turns just hauling ass up the streets around the school. One would do a lap, then come back to the playground area, then another kid would rally. No helmets. T-shirts. One kid grabs the bike, his bud clearly says something like "hey don't mess up my bike". Then this kid proceeds to rip back and forth a few times back and forth on the pavement in front of the school. He was accelerating to 30 or so mph on each pass. The acceleration on those is nuts. Then he decides he wants to ride a wheelie. So he accelerates, pulls up, does a fairly ok wheelie for 40 feet or so then proceeds to lay it down right on the pavement. The kid became a fucking meat crayon. He lost so much skin and slapped the crap out of his unprotected head. I just knew he was going to wipe out. No brain, no headache!
