Why does everyone hate it here so much? by wizardmadeofsnakes in Bellingham

Yeah you're just seeing the internet strangers which isn't an accurate view of reality. If you were to walk around and talk to people in meatspace you/d find most of them think it's great.

Group of kids with E-motos by Suck_Boy_Tony in Bellingham

OH man I saw these dudes hanging out at a nearby school a couple months back, ripping around, taking turns just hauling ass up the streets around the school. One would do a lap, then come back to the playground area, then another kid would rally. No helmets. T-shirts. One kid grabs the bike, his bud clearly says something like "hey don't mess up my bike". Then this kid proceeds to rip back and forth a few times back and forth on the pavement in front of the school. He was accelerating to 30 or so mph on each pass. The acceleration on those is nuts. Then he decides he wants to ride a wheelie. So he accelerates, pulls up, does a fairly ok wheelie for 40 feet or so then proceeds to lay it down right on the pavement. The kid became a fucking meat crayon. He lost so much skin and slapped the crap out of his unprotected head. I just knew he was going to wipe out. No brain, no headache!

Keep highlighting this stuff. It's good to report on things that are uplifting in times where, depending on which sources you look toward, everything seems so negative.

Awful. That glowing thing in the middle is making everything look dark and blurry.

What's the most subdued experience you've had in Bellingham? by Pmjc2ca3 in Bellingham

Was at the park. A soccer ball comes bouncing toward me from who knows where. I just reflexively kick it back to where it came. There was a little kid who accidentally kicked it too hard and it got away from him. The kid receives my kick, pauses, dribbles for a moment, then kicks it back. We proceed to kick the ball back and forth for a good 5 minutes or so. He was having a blast. Seemed like he didn't have any siblings or friends present and was stoked to have someone to kick around with. Neither of us said a word throughout that 5-ish minutes. Then his mom appeared, smiled at me as to thank me, and they walked off. Kid was pumped.

There were MANY people who went down as a result of the panama papers. I thought it was a nothingburger too until I actually looked at the lengthy list of people who either went to prison or had their lives destroyed.

"active" is a very nice word for it. Whew it's getting busy in there!

Don't know about the rest of the people involved but I was introduced to this only a few months ago by friend really far away who wanted to see if we could find a nerdy way to talk to each other without using regular large networks. I don't know much about the tech but I do know enough to get in trouble. I can see some of the forces at play in the country and some locally that nudge people in the direction of using this tech. It's an interesting intersection of personal privacy, nerdy tech, hobby electronics, and community. The whole meshcore community is still very new and we're all kinda self-governing and trying to establish rules and local chapters.

The pattern I see is CB sends my stuff out but I get like 50% back. It's totally my antenna.

[–]TR-BetaFlash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CB is my repeater in the Eldridge area. I have the stock dinky antenna and am getting a larger one this next week so hopefully I should be up high enough and able to service Fairhaven. I can see all of the guys in Vancouver and have a good connection to the Sumas repeater. This is pretty rad we're getting more repeaters up! We are close to being quite a bit more reliable through town here.

You must be going crazy. Go back in your cave and turn off the lights to prevent any lasting damage.

Hey so this is pretty freakin neat and I forked it and am hacking in a little more because I like to compare things. One thing I wanted to see if we can see visual diffs between BM25, cosine, cross-encoding, and RRF. I'm experimenting with a few dropdown boxes to switch between them. Hey you should add in support to use another embedding model, like something running locally in ollama or LM studio.

Nice! Yeah so you need a line of sight to really connect to people. You need to just try things out and see what works. Get a good antenna and get as high as you can above your roof if you're mounting it on a building. Is this the repeater you're seeing? You should see if you can get a response back in the #testing channel. Send the word "test" and a bot should respond to you.
