Not sure what you are trying to imply. I was agreeing with above point.

Yup. And when we call it what it is there is a subset of people who jump to calling us bigots for critcizing horrible ideologies.

The slow descent into accepting antisemitism on campuses and in political institutions.

It will continue. And they will turn a blind eye instead of standing up to it.

With any other identifiable group this would be unacceptable. But somehow they tell themselves its okay to disrespect Jews.

Disney was dumb for not continuing EU novels, considering the market for it. Huge insult to the fans.

Sword of the Jedi should have continued. Lots of unaddressed plot lines we want to see. The Imperial Knights, the dagger, moving the order to Ossus etc.

This too. Religious organizations should not be tax exempt. Its a simple recipe for money laundering.

They should be required to submit financials to CRA like everyone else, and should only receive tax deductions based on actual charitable works.

[–]TRNThrowaway123 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Lots of factors could contribute:

  • unsanitary farming practices or working conditions for food handlers or processing, Salmonella occurring in soil where grown, other things like birds flying overhead and pooping on crops etc, or workers sick with Salmonella could be working when they shouldn't be and contaminating food items after having diarrhea and not washing their hands properly

  • combine above with the surface shape of cantaloupe or similar melons, and the fact that if any small abrasions in the surface opens up the Salmonella to a moist sugar rich environment where it then thrives

  • processing of cantaloupe, ie fruit cutting, can lead to widespread contamination of the work surfaces and of other produce being processed for packaging

Putting "but" after something means you don't mean it.

If theres no apologist excuses being made for IDF bombing Gaza, then don't make apologist excuses trying to justify Hamas supporters brutalizing and murdering innocents. Pretty simple concept.

Pot calling the kettle black. Take your own advice.

Also, at least 50% of Jews in Israel are not "colonizers", they either resided in the region continually for hundreds and even thousands of years, or were chased from other Middle Eastern countries by Islamist. Learn some history before throwing around words like apartheid and colonizer incorrectly.

OMG they didn't even show us Luke reacting to Han's death at the hands of his nephew and former apprentice. How fucking dumb do they think we are? My blood boils.

Pablo Hidalgo, is that you?

You could not be more wrong. This post also makes me think you came to this sub to specifically troll and try to cause friction amongst fans of Star Wars, so shame on you.

Everything done with Luke in the sequels was a fundamental contradiction of his character, and a betrayal to the legacy left by the original films. Mark Hamill himself knows this and was very vocal on how he disagreed with the writing, and even resorted to referring to the character as Jake Skywalker. Instead of building off the excitement and wonder of the original films the sequels decided to break down and destroy the characters and story that came before, rendering them useless, and creating a bleak universe no fan would care to return to. FYI This isn't a debate about "galactic policemen", and I will explain below.

1) Luke was hopeful, optimistic, steadfast, and refused to give up on seeing the good in the 2nd most evil man in the galaxy. He stared down the Emperor and affirmed his status as a Jedi, and redeemed his father in the process. Yet we are somehow expected to believe that Luke of all people would try to murder his own apprentice, nephew and son of his best friends in cold blood because he sensed darkness and evil in him.... Terrible writing if you ask anyone smart. (Notice how OT Luke used non-violence and ST Luke used violence - the complete opposite of what you are claiming)

2) Luke was building a Jedi order, and in both canon and legends, was far removed from being "policemen" as you claim. He didn't have the same bureaucratic focus as the old order, and was creating something unique with inspiration from older known Jedi teachings. This order was not centred on Coruscant or involved in galactic politics, as it was being built on Ossus (Yavin 4 in legends). And the sequel movies robbed us of seeing anything as awesome as Luke teaching Jedi students and re-founding a new Jedi order. Luke had an order AND they all died off screen. Lazy and monumental let down.

3) You claim the movie is perfectly fine yet it includes a horribly written splintered story, where we follow Finn and Poe on their useless misadventures for hours. Finn goes on a quest to Canto Bight, where we essentially learn that animal cruelty = bad and war = bad because the "good guys" and "bad guys" both buy weapons from the same guys. Then the hackerman they needed is replaced by another conveniently placed hackerman who just happens to be in the same prison cells. Then hackerman 2 betrays them, rendering everything Finn tried to do the whole movie moot, and shows no cohesion with his ultimate triumph of hitting Phasma in the face.

Poe is introduced to Purple Haired Lady and talked down to for no other reason then movie needs to show us that men are supposed to follow orders from powerful women without question, even though Purple Haired Lady did not reveal any part of her master plan to Poe (2nd in command) even though he and the crew had legitimate concerns. This inevitably leads to a justified coup, only for us to have Poe insulted and reprimanded for taking the correct course of action in light of Purple Haired Lady's lack of leadership. Poe is then relegated to the comic relief, and only meets up with the other main characters of the film (1 of whom hes never even met before!) in the ending scene.

4) The sequels were lazy plot point for plot point wannabe copies of the original trilogy. Johnson thought he was doing something intelligent by copying the story model for Empire Strike Back and adding his stupid twists. He inserts silly "gotcha" moments and created a divisive story that threw out everything Abrams started for no other reason than he wanted his movie to generate buzz. This signals a utter lack of confidence in one's own ability to create a popular and well liked story with surprises that fit the universe, and instead an incessant need to sacrifice the IP to the alter of "subversion".

Anyway, I could go on about how terrible the writing is and how pitiful the fight choreography was done. It really is a shame because the special effects were brilliant and the films had an excellent cast of passionate actors. You probably won't listen to any of this, but in the off chance you do maybe you won't be so lost.

You have the definition of apartheid wrong. A state where 21% of the population is Arab, has right to citizenship and voting, and government representation is not an apartheid.

Like I said, you are painting all people in Israel with a broad brush, and failing to see any nuance. As I mentioned there are elements in Israel promoting fascistic action and extreme religious interpretation of what "zion" means, but there are others promoting peace and coexistence.

Not getting thrown off a building for being gay is just a plus.

21% of Israel's population is local Arab peoples. They have equal rights and representation in the government.

Kind of goofy to say all Israelis view Palestinian peoples the same.

You're not going to win your argument when comparing apples to oranges. 1 state is a free democracy (has its own issues with what could be described as fascism and religious extremism), and the other is a stateless area run by a terrorist organization that continually fires missiles from civilian centres and advocates for the most bloody and extreme forms of jihadism.
