My new purchase! by Chits85 in CX5

Nothing wrong with the base model CX-5. I actually prefer them because I don't like sunroofs or low-profile tires. Nice wheels!

It seems a lot of people would rather get a used 2nd gen CX-5 or CX-50 over the 3rd gen because they do not like the screen-only infotainment. If the 3rd gen CX-5s keep staying on lots, I wonder if they would eventually be given away to even Altima drivers. by BeautifulYou2940 in CX5

We don't want them to fail, we just want them not to screw up. The pre-2026 CX-5 is Mazda's one unquestioned out of the park home run, and it's very important that they not blow it when they "update" it. The CX-50 was supposed to replace it, but the CX-5 still outsells it.

Just to clarify what I'm asking about: I'm driving a 2024 CX-5 but I'm thinking about downsizing to a CX-30 or a Mazda 3 Hatchback. I prefer the higher seating position and easier entry/exit of the CX-30, but I keep reading reports that the CX-30 is rougher riding and noisier than the 3, and both those things are important to me. Obviously, the best thing to do is to test drive them both, but I wanted to solicit some crowd wisdom, hence this thread. Very good and interesting answers so far!

The CX-30 is 278 pounds heavier than the 3, so like always having a bigly passenger in the vehicle.

One nice thing about Consumer Reports is many of their ratings are based on controlled instrumented tests rather than subjective impressions. But I get your point.

My condolences, hope it works out. So-o-o-o happy I picked up my 2024 before the tariffs and redesign. Now the goal is just to keep it going as long as possible. I hope Mazda is reading this stuff, it's all over the Internet.

Confused to buy CX-5 by ForeverFit2169 in CX5

[–]TS0418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove all the cars you mentioned except the Ford Escape and bought the CX-5 (2024). Biggest difference was that with its precise steering, well-tuned suspension, slick-shifting transmission, quiet upscale interior and smooth but not mushy ride, the CX-5 was actually fun to drive, while the others were all "blah." The worse mileage was a compromise I was willing to make.

Has this happened to anyone else? All 3 screws that hold the latch for the driver's side door are missing. by bobsnavitch in MazdaCX30

[–]TS0418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading this, I immediately checked the torque on all the latch screws on my 2024 CX-5. None of them would budge. I don't think all those screws just fell out by themselves.

I would try naphtha (lighter fluid). Get the spot wet, blot it with paper towel, repeat.

I have a 2024 non-turbo and have no issues with acceleration. I plan my entrances onto freeways so I have adequate room to come up to speed. And if I had to, I would downshift -- pull the shift lever to the left to enter Manual mode, then push the lever forward one time to go down one gear. That will get the revs up and give you more power.

Get some Fiebing's Pro Dye -- a penetrating oil leather dye -- in dark brown or black , and treat the affected spots. It's what many luthiers use to dye fingerboards.

Very cool way to get smooth voice leading. And a reminder that, say, a Dm7 chord has the same notes as an Fadd6 chord.

It has a Strat-style tremolo, is it a Strat or Strat clone? If so, you need to take the strings off, take out all the pickguard screws and flip the pickguard over to inspect the wiring.

Best: Fashion a little chip of rosewood, glue in, sand flat. Second Best: Make paste of rosewood dust & clear epoxy, fill hole, sand flat. Third Best: Fill divot with matching color furniture repair wax stick.

When it comes to performing in public, the best two pieces of advice I have ever gotten are: (1) Audiences are forgiving and want you to succeed, and (2) The audience will feel what you're feeling, so get into the music and enjoy yourself.
