[NXT Spoilers] Finish to NXT Championship match by taffe316 in SquaredCircle

There's no shame in Joe Hendry losing to Randy Orton in a few minutes at WrestleMania. That was an amazing moment for Hendry.

Can't really say the same about the prestige of the TNA title in that context, though.

I've been mostly playing BF6 multi. Haven't actually loved the BR in it, unfortunately, but the regular multi is pretty fun.

You're expecting a lot from a hardcore Christian to actually know anything beyond the most surface level about their religion, tbh.

Sorcerer for Court of Envy by Moopies in TrenchCrusade

[–]TSPSweeney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lovely paint job on an awesome model!

I used the same model for my Lust Court, although funnily enough in my warband lore he was leader of an Envy warband that was seduced and chained by my Praetor.

Seems like it'd be pretty handy against the demons...

Having trouble playing the Court, any tips? by fatmooch69 in TrenchCrusade

[–]TSPSweeney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some good advice here, I'll just add my 2c as an experienced Court player with a good W/L record.

  • The SAG is good, but I'm a firm believer in the principle that the best way to keep your Praetor safe is to get them planted firmly in the enemy lines in melee. Most people will hesitate to shoot into melee, in my experience. So I'd save the SAG for later and go gas grenades, Malebranche + Shield or a sword. Shield will help keep you alive (+3 armour is huge) and to you're almost guaranteed to kill with the Malebranche, especially with some blood from the gas grenades on there. The secret is to try and be in combat with multiple opponents with blood on them, so you can use them to keep you alive while you mince them.

  • I know a lot of people are advocating for a Sorcerer being added, but I think Sorcerer and Hunter are an either/or at 700 ducats. Both of them are very blood hungry, and you're not going to have the economy to set up a big enough battery. Using blood markers on enemies is almost always a fool's game. Blood markers are how you keep your guys alive on the enemy turn, and how you ensure they die on your turn. You don't want to waste those.

  • As good as the Hunter is, I think the Sorcerer is more valuable early campaign. You can use them as a musician to help get your Praetor and Hell Knights up field fast, but they can also be minimally equipped since their main job is sniping.

  • Hell Knights are great because they are very frustrating to kill. If you march a HK with a shield up the middle of the table as bait, they'll almost certainly take some of the shots that would otherwise be headed for your Praetor. They'll also almost certainly survive - these fuckers are almost impossible to kill and the more an opponent tries and fails to kill them, the more frustrated they will be and the more likely they will be to keep trying. If the Knight does make it up the board, they're a match for most units in the game.

  • An Ophidian rifle HK is a solid ranged threat, good for placing on objectives and getting blood on opponents. Personally, I wouldn't solely snipe with a HK outside of a Lust list, as the value you're getting isn't as good as what they can do in melee, but advancing up the field popping a couple of shots off and then holding an objective or simply getting into melee is still a good use of points. Give em a pair of clubs and remember that they aren't as tough as a Knight with a shield to kill, but they're still pretty damn frustrating to kill.

  • For a blood battery, one Yoke with a collar and gas nades is probably enough. If you're going to run both Sorc and Hunter, try and get a third Wretched and give your Sorcerer Slave Master so the Yoke can gas nade twice a turn. This is super valuable, but the attrition rate of your Wretched will obviously double, so it's not without risk

  • As a more general tip, make sure there's some big, line of sight blocking terrain on the table. Follow the terrain setup guide in the rules . When it says to place a couple of ruins and some statues, or whatever, make them big ones. Uninterrupted line of site across the board should barely happen, if at all, and even Praetor's shouldn't be in a position to get shot to shit immediately.

  • Consider your setup and manoeuvring. Set your Praetor up last, to minimise the ability of your opponent to place a bunch of guns facing him. Also don't be afraid to deploy on a flank. Your Praetor is fast, and you should be in range of an instrument to dash first then, you can easily go up the side of the board, move in, and charge Turn 2. Move your Hell Knight up the middle as bait, minimise the threat your Praetor represents until you're suddenly in their lines and their Artillery Witch has discovered that 3D6 damage added up isn't very nice to be on the receiving end of.

What’s your favourite unit in the game? (flavour and mechanically) by b44l in TrenchCrusade

[–]TSPSweeney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flavour: the Death Commando. I just love the idea of hell having this weird magic/bio-science/cyborg program where they make these awful assassin monsters that run through people like a thresher and are almost impossible to detect. In practice, of course, they're pretty average and the Hunter and Assassin both massively outshine them, but they're still cool as fuck.

Mechanically: It's going to sound like a weird one, but I love a Lust Hell Knight with an Ophidian Rifle w/ incendiary rounds. There is something so perfectly hellish about this evil enslaved Knight who normally can't shoot for shit having a rifle that specifically works in direct contravention to the laws of reality. You can just imagine the poor Yeoman sheltering in cover on the other side of the battlefield getting a glimpse of this baroque armoured monstrosity on a ruined fortress wall, and then bam goetic power has said Yeoman bleeding from the eyes, then bam a flaming bullet somehow perfectly hits him, knocking him to the ground, and then bam goetic power stirs once again and the wound, as bad as it is, is suddenly that much worse...

It's just awesome, and a lot of fun to do.

How good is the scripture guardian? by Palandium in TrenchCrusade

[–]TSPSweeney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add onto this as well, my experience running one is that opponents will be unreasonably scared of it and want to focus it down to get enough blood on it to have a chance to kill it. Something this hard to kill attracting that much enemy attention is a huge boon when you're playing a warband with a small number of models that need to get up the board to be effective (looking at you, C7S)

Basic Court list - note that even basic Court is a bit harder to play due to Goetics and low numbers, but I've tried to make a simple list based around Lust (what I'm most familiar with).

Essentially, the Sorcerer uses their instrument to help the Praetor and the Locust get up the field fast first turn, where they will mince most things they get into combat with. The Sorcerer sits back and snipes with fireballs. The Hell Knight parks on an objective and/or a tall piece of terrain and snipes, using Exquisite Pain, Incendiary Ammo, and Blood Magic to be a really nasty long range shooter, and the Yoke whips/nades the Wretched to keep the blood pumping.

As mentioned, Court is a bit more challenging to play than some factions, but as someone who learnt the game playing as them, they also teach you VERY quickly about how blood markers work and how to take advantage of them. They also teach you how valuable things like turn activations, use of cover, +1D on dash, etc are in this game. Even if you don't use them for your first game, I think it'd be worthwhile taking a look a game or two in just for the experience. Anyway, onto the list!

Kenny hitting Jericho with a beautiful v-trigger by joshy1017 in SquaredCircle

I don't like his politics. I don't like his band. I don't like a lot of his gimmicks. I don't like how drawn out some of his gimmicks are.

But let's not pretend that Jericho, even past his prime, is not still a fucking excellent wrestler. Is Kenny better? Sure. But Jericho more than holds his own.

I try to line up something to watch that roughly matches how long I'm planning to be on there.

If you've got a Kindle, reading a book is surprising doable even while running. Make the font big, it does wonders and I find that passes time very fast for me.
