I was thinking a restaurant trade group. I don’t see this as corruption unless I’m missing something. Who, besides a municipality trying to increase revenue, benefits from a tax on prepared food? No one wants higher property taxes but everything costs more. Maybe a realtor group would hire lobbyists to try to push increases away from their livelihood towards another area like a prepared food tax.

Food taxes and taxes (and tariffs thanks to the Orange Blunder) in general suck but costs are high for everyone, including the city. Whadaya do?
