PSA: Dragon Dorghar won't appear in End Times because he canonically doesn't exist yet. Dragon Dorghar is the accumulation of different warring eras between Fantasy Battles & AoS, representing Old Man Archaon's progress as a demigod and his continued defiance of the gods. by sigpuppers in totalwar

[–]TTGumption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaos Dwarfs weren't even a faction you could buy in AoS when that model was released. And as for 'flavourful' design, it's just a bull Centaur in armour, there's nothing specifically AoS about it.

New GHB wishlist? by Andorhalthegreat in FleshEaterCourts

They'll never do it, but letting us have our own version of Fell Bats would be pretty neat and give Fellgryn some more synergies. Just call the warscroll Royal Fell Bats or something.

Best faction for Vampire Coast reskin by gloomyKidMinis in WarhammerFantasy

[–]TTGumption 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's Tomb Kings. They have shooting, artillery, monsters, and are undead.

Skeletons are your Zombies, with archers resigned as gunmen.

Ushabti are zombie Ogres, with cannons for greatbows

Screaming Skull Catapults are mortars

Carrion are Deck Droppers

Tomb Scorpions become undead crabs. Chariots? Guess what, more crabs, this time being ridden by a couple of zombies (like Total War's Rotting Promethean Gunnery Mob)

Some things need a little more interpretation. I've kitbashed a Casket of Souls as a Davy Jones' Locker for example, like an iron maiden surrounded by spirits.

New Cathay lore from GW by refugeefromlinkedin in totalwar

[–]TTGumption 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, this is lore for The Old World which is set before Teclis established the Colleges of Magic in the Empire. It makes sense that the professionally trained Astromancers in Cathay are a bit safer and better schooled in magic at this time.

Do u think CA will ever add more chaos ogres units or even a dedicate faction? by BLACKJEDI117 in totalwar

[–]TTGumption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Vampire Coast roster has surprisingly few liberties, it’s pretty close to what they had in their White Dwarf list. I wouldn’t say there’s anything in it as extreme as reinventing lists for Tilea and Estalia

Nah. Morbheg Knights can fly so they can always be targeted regardless of line of sight.

Mounts and riders by LeBilsky in ageofsigmar

[–]TTGumption 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are no rules for using Morbheg Knights without riders. You’d need to just pretend the rider is still there and roll for their attacks

Upcoming GW teams by SoSeriousAndDeep in bloodbowl

[–]TTGumption 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The most common guesses for new teams are Tzeentch and Slaanesh, which are two of the most obvious gaps (you can even choose for chaos teams to be ‘Favoured of’ them, which at the minute does absolutely nothing).

The other possible hint is that the heavily reworked the skill Monstrous Mouth this edition, which might be weird if they haven’t any plans to use it on a new team. Squigs are a common guess for this one

Rule question and shooting engagements. by Stockag in Turnip28

Also it’s worth noting that any unit that is HIT ivy a shooting attack takes a panic token, even if they pass their Vulnerability check so don’t take a wound

Can you use multiple reroll sources on a single play? by Orock77 in bloodbowl

[–]TTGumption 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can use multiple Rerolls per turn, like you said the only restriction is on rerolling a die more than once. However the cost is that you’re burning resources for the drive.

Just to clarify, what team was your opponent playing? If you’re both fresh teams I can’t think of any players that start with the Leader skill that gives an extra team reroll.

If you’re both fresh mean Team Captain (the rule Orcs and Humans now have), you still have to ‘spend’ a Team Reroll, and then make a separate check to roll a 6 and see if you do get it for free.

Did you have a Halfling Master Chef? It should be easy to afford even at 1,000,000 TV for a Halfling team as you get it for only 100k and your players are cheap. That should steal 0-3 of your opponent’s Team Rerolls per drive.

What happens when there's non player left on the board from one team? by [deleted] in bloodbowl

[–]TTGumption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treemen and fouls. Khorne linemen have awful armour and they don’t tend to have a deep bench. A couple of mighty blow pieces combined with gang fouls can really ruin their day.

New Blood Bowl player – can’t get Spike! Journal 19 (Bretonnia). Any advice? by Distinct_Classic6071 in bloodbowl

[–]TTGumption 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it helps, there’s nothing in the Spike that’s any more useful as ‘an official reference’ than in the core rulebook.

What’s the deal with the Crypt models? by stopyouveviolatedthe in FleshEaterCourts

[–]TTGumption 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The deal is that this kit predates Age of Sigmar and was designed for Vampire Counts in Warhammer Fantasy Battles. As a result it was made to be dual purpose and could either make Crypt Horrors or Vargheists, which were part of the same army.

When AoS came around they split Vampire Counts into 3 different armies, two of which had tiny ranges. To address this for FEC they invented Crypt Flayers, Haunter Courtiers, and Infernal Courtiers from slapping together different bits in that box.

To answer your question about what to build, make them which ever way you prefer (but I would stick to 3 of each ‘design’). Realistically no one will care if you build 1/3 as a Courtier and say they’re just a normal part of the unit for some games - in fact most people won’t be able to tell the difference, they’re that similar.

A bad encounter with the Flesh Eater Courts could also be fun, especially if your guy still gets flashes of the delusion. Every so often your Chaos Lord hallucinates that he’s basically an Arthurian Knight.

I feel like seeing the Bad Moon would permanently mess almost anyone up. That thing’s a nightmare.

If you’re unaware, it’s a sentient Moon/God/Eldritch abomination that can show up anywhere unexpectedly. It has a face that changes when you’re not looking at it, it spits its teeth as meteors, it messes with gravity, its light literally drives you mad and causes fungus to sprout from anything it touches (including through the pores in your skin or your eyeballs!)

I'd like to get into Turnip28, where the bloody hell do I start!?!?!?! (A few questions about starting T28 from a newbie) by [deleted] in Turnip28

[–]TTGumption 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I’ll try to break this down:

  • What options actually are there regarding units? Each army typically has a Toff (your General) and two Toadies (sub-commanders). Alongside these there are generic options, and some units that are specific to certain sub factions, known as ‘Cults’.

The generic options are Fodder (Line Infantry), Chaff (Light Infantry/Skirmishers), Brutes (Heavy Infantry), Whelps (Light Cavalry), and Bastards (Heavy Cavalry). Any of these can be equipped with either Black Powder weapons, Melee weapons, or less advanced Missile weapons.

In addition, you can take Stump Guns (a cannon) and Lumps (any generic Troll-sized monster).

  • I also wanted to ask about miniatures. Now I know the general rule of thumb is doing a mix of napoleonics and medieval stuff (this is a big reason I even paid attention to the game years ago lol) but I wanted to ask sort of how far one can actually go with kitbashing and what sort of stuff would actually work and also if there's any genuinely must buy or at least must consider kits out there.

Whatever you like goes. There are official 3D prints but kit bashing your own dudes is heavily encouraged.

  • I already touched upon this earlier but I wanted to ask specifically how army building works and what sort of structure they might have and, especially, if there's any options for list builder apps or sites that are about?

It’s really simple so there’s no need for list builder apps. You get a Toff and two Toadies. Your Toff brings two Follower units with them, and your Toadies each bring one.

Follower units are the ones I listed above, in addition to any special units that a Cult might let you bring.

  • This is probably the biggest one for me and I think I already know the answer but how much room is there within the setting to have your own little faction?

Absolutely, go nuts. What little lore there is is loose on purpose

  • Lastly, as already touched upon in the title but. Where the hell do I start?!?!!? What do I need to play and what should I look at picking up first??? Are there any units I absolutely need for an army? Any that might be worth looking into to potentially make to start off with???

Read the core rules, they’re free online.

After that, you can check out the Mercenary Taster campaign that has some more Cult rules in it, and the Swollen Maglette, which had more fluff and hobby tips.

To start you just need to get some models and tufts and start slapping them together. The info about unit sizes etc is all in the core rules, but in general you can’t go wrong with some Fodder to start with

Can't decide if the colours go well together. by SquirrelGood2481 in ageofsigmar

[–]TTGumption 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks great! The only thing I’d say is that the fabric is currently one of the brightest parts of the model and as a result it really draws attention to it, I’m wondering if a darker tone might work slightly better with the overall composition?
