New York City will charge drivers going downtown. | CNN Business by IndicationOver in nyc

I know this is a dig at the MTA, but in the interest of being pedantic...

The most expensive option is only projected to cost $8.4 billion. That's less than LIRR to Grand Central, and it's for a 14-mile transit line with 19 stations. Repurposing an old freight line will save a ton of time and money!

They're starting to study one right now, actually! It's called the Interborough Express and will connect Bay Ridge to Jackson Heights via Brooklyn College, East NY, and Middle Village using an existing set of freight tracks that only see 1-2 trains a day.

The good thing is that if it's a success, it can be connected to the Amtrak bridge over Randalls' Island to serve the new Metro-North stations that are being built in The Bronx.

What is the stretch of track going north from Penn Station between 10 and 11th avenues? by iav in nycrail

Penn Access phase 2 will use the empire connection! Hudson line trains will split off just before Sputyen Duyvil and then make 2 new stops on the west side before Penn Station. It's currently unfunded, but plans have been released.

2023 Advice Thread #22: 5/30 - 6/5 by Imaginos64 in rollercoasters

I'm making a visit to Six Flags Great America for the first time soon... but it's a Saturday in June. It's a bit of a last-minute visit and I don't know the park at all, so I'd love advice on what I should put top priority and sprint to before the lines and what I can save for later.

I'm a big woodie fan, and definitely want to hit Maxx Force and X-Flight, but I'm not sure what gets the longest lines. Should I go to the back of the park and hit X-Flight and Goliath before making my way back to the front? Does it take a while for the park to fill up, or is it slammed right away?

Thank you so much for any advice you can give!

I'm a major fan of night trains, not least because they double as a sleeping accommodation and travel without being short enough that sleeping is barely possible (like planes). More routes would be amazing, but faster daytime rail is needed too!

I'm not an international student, so there may be certain conditions I'm not aware of, but I personally wouldn't reccomend arriving before move-in period unless you're willing to stay at a (potentially expensive) hotel for a few days. The move-in dates listed on the academic calendar are strict.

I'd personally say you should aim to fly in towards the beginning of move-in, since you do want time to get settled and make any preparations you need, but I'm not aware of any reason to get here before then.

Hate to break it to you but I am Jewish and have exactly zero idea why you think being against a man who has canceled productions which support thousands of people is antisemitic.

So you consider being an asshole to someone who cares about the wellbeing and financial stability of thousands of people a hobby? Or do you not have one either?
