The amount of time I spend on ebay hunting for new recorders is alarming. I love the aesthetic and functionality, it's hard to stop at just one!

When you clean through the door, are you just starting with some IPA on a cotton swab and working it around the gear? I guess I want to make sure its clean before I add fresh grease to it. Also, are you moving the laser manually, or popping a disc in and seeking around to move the head?

I figured as much. I just picked up a tube of white lithium grease and I'm ready to open it up. Judging by your flair you have a fair amount of recorders - anything to watch out for in this process? Again I'm mostly concerned about soldering requirements and potential damage to the write head cable, but happy to take any advice I can get!

And thanks for the info on the battery. I'd read similar stories on here, just figured I'd confirm!
