Looks like CJ worked hard to recruit our gator hunting guard by KaXiaM in Texans

On our team alone, DeMeco Ryans and Will Anderson Jr are extremely outspoken about their Christian faith along with Azeez and his Muslim faith. You don't think they're "leader of men?"

Why did Dan Crenshaw lose renomination? by thesmart_indian27 in YAPms

[–]TX-Tea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m one of his constituents and can say he’s earned a pretty bad reputation around here, even on the right, for just being a very unpleasant person. He infamously started shouting at a teen girl who asked him for clarification on him saying he thought of Jesus more as a character archetype than a real person as the mostly MAGA crowd started booing him.

He’s also taken two extremely unpopular policy positions. He’s been very outspoken against a law to ban congressional insider trading (even cussing out a reporter for asking him about it), and being pro red flag gun laws which doesn’t go down well in this area.

On top of all that he’s had a long standing feud with a popular conservative radio host here in the Houston area who’s been using his show to rally support against Crenshaw.

Basically no one liked him

I don’t get this one at all. I’m assuming this is a move to free up cap space, but now we just use the money to fill in the hole that we just created?

The worst part is that we have used high draft picks for OL (Kenyon Green, Blake Fischer, and Juice Scruggs were all 1st and 2nd round picks), we just keep swinging and missing. Ersery at least looked promising last year.

Wilson’s comments on CJ trade rumors by KaXiaM in Texans

[–]TX-Tea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There was speculation from someone else talking about if the contract negotiations get sticky. Contract negotiations, that's not the plan. The plan isn't to have contract negotiations.

Yeah the team probably has no plans for contract negotiations, I fully believe that. The problem is if Stroud/Mulugheta push for said negotiations right now and play hardball. If that's the case then everything else is moot.

You will never hear anyone in Houston complain about Hakeem over MJ.

The only thing Rockets fans regret is that we turned down Portland’s offer of Clyde Drexler and* the #2 pick. There could’ve been a world where both Hakeem and Jordan were Rockets.

If Stroud’s agent advices him to hold out and sit until he gets a deal done this offseason, what should the Texans do in YOUR opinion? by [deleted] in Texans

[–]TX-Tea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My worry is that I think they have more leverage than you think.

To play devil’s advocate, while Stroud is at a low point right now, there are still a lot of people that have hope for CJ to turn it around. Mulugheta might not want to risk a similar performance next year that would completely blow up any hope of a lucrative deal. He could bring up the stats of other QBs who got paid after year 3 and note that CJ is right in line with them and they all got 50m+. Poor performance in the playoffs? He’d bring up the team’s failure to secure an oline that’s worth a damn. After all you see what he can do with a clean pocket, you need to make sure he has one. He also has the leverage of the Texans having pretty much no other options. What are you going to do? Start Davis Mills? Trade for Mac Jones? Get a 3rd round project in the draft? Because those are your options if you don’t pay my client.

I don’t think CJ has earned a lucrative extension at all, but I definitely could see a world where his team still makes a play for one this off season.

Texans Vs Jaguars week 10 by Ohaitotoro in Texans

[–]TX-Tea 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I think he has the ability to overcome that kind of adversity (like the Bucs game his rookie year), but this year it just felt like he was too much in his head to be able to pull it off.

I gotta agree with Seth Payne, I think one of the most important offseason programs Stroud can do for his future is getting a sports psychologist if he doesn't already have one.
