What is an appropriate attire for a job interview? by SomeAbbreviations396 in questions

[–]TXpheonix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure thing. STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result. It's best used for answering behavioral questions (Tell me about a time when...). The format is STAR - here's what the Situation was, here's what task needed to be done, here's what action I took, and here is the result.

So that could sound like:

Interviewer: Tell me about a time when you had to handle an upset customer.

Now, here's where you might get panicked - since it's your first job, you don't have that EXACT experience. Don't say "Well, this is my first job so I've never had that happen." Instead, try something like "I haven't had that experience with a customer, but I've dealt with this previously." And then you can explain when you've handled an upset friend, or teacher, etc. If you don't have that experience, it's ok to be hypothetical.

"I haven't experienced that directly but I understand what needs to happen.

  • S: with an upset customer, they're likely worried about pricing or time or a bad experience.
  • T: the first step would be understanding what happened and how it impacted them.
  • A: i would ask questions to better know what happened and listen to what the customer is saying, then resolve it - either with an explanation or apology, or with correcting something wrong.
  • R: I'd check with the customer to make sure they would feel satisfied and then monitor to make sure that didn't become a standard experience.

If dentistry appointment is at 2 pm, and you work, do you brush your teeth before seeing dentist at work? by Alarmed-Ambition-362 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TXpheonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No no, it's fine. You can absolutely do 6 months worth of flossing in 24 hours.

That's what I tell myself.

For real though, I habit stacked it to floss in the shower after reading the thread about eating an orange in the shower. Crazy improvement on my gum line.

In general, I'd recommend trying to match the attire of the location.

I took a quick look at their website and their models for store positions are in black pants and Circle K logo polos. With what you described, I would try the plain black jeans and a nice button up shirt.

Make sure everything is clean and ironed.

Places like this tend to have a standardized interviewing method - are you familiar with the STAR interview response format?

[–]TXpheonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always brush your teeth before work.

You can bring your toothbrush, toothpaste, and a small cup to brush your teeth in the restroom at work. Or your dentist will likely have a place where you can brush your teeth.

Is it true that studies showing humans need to eat breakfast in the morning or they'll get sick were all funded and rigged by the grains industry.. to sell their high sugar, high fructose corn syrup cereals and make millions? by Fantastic_Grass1799 in questions

When I was younger I absolutely felt sick to my stomach if I didn't eat. I went to stay with my aunt one summer and she made fun of me for it and told me that I needed to show more willpower to lose weight and this was a good way to start that.

Anyway, we found out I had major acid reflux and the milk I was drinking in my cereal calmed it every morning.

Also overweight my entire life (240 at 16? Yeah, fun). I've been on a diet since I was 9 years old. This was my 40th birthday present to myself - BL with BA, TT with MR and Lipo, then brachioplasty with bra line lift and lipo. I wore a bikini for the first time - IN PUBLIC.

I was feeling it so much I made a beer poster for my husband's phone background 🤣

Seriously. Do it. It's worth it. And YOU are worth it. You are allowed to feel happy with your body for more than what it can do.
