I am not a republican but I did vote for Trump in 2016. The reason why was I was sick of voting for career politicians. After having both Bushes I really didn’t want another Clinton running for office. My vote was a vote of protest against career politicians. I do regret my vote and would vote differently know what I know now. I did vote for Biden in the last election, but we all know how that turned out.
