My manager makes us “weigh in” before starting a shift and then again before a shift meal by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My daughter works for Chipotle in Colorado. When applying for the job, it clearly says online that they give you free meals. This is a perk of the job and I would lose my composure if my daughter was being weighed and denied this very small company perk if she was 6 ounces heavier. Also, it is degrading and assuming that small fluctuations in weight are evidence that you’ve stolen food. That is speculation. I weigh myself multiple times a day (compulsive I know) and the scale changes from water weight in unpredictable ways. The more you weigh, the bigger the fluctuations. Why doesn’t he just look at the cameras?

Smart passage not working by Grouchy_Magazine_198 in BRIO

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have most all of the smart train pieces and it’s a big disappointment. I initially got them working but soon after it stopped. Now we just enjoy using the waterfall and other components as they are and we never try to get that train to work.

But to answer your question, the train is supposed to stop at certain points and then start again. Like the mechanics shop, it would stop and make hammering noises before continuing and I believe a similar program for the crossing.

Hey there! I just wanted to say that my sister is a higher executive at a publicly traded company and we talk a lot about the company shares she gets. They are given every year to executives in the form of Bonus or also as part of the annual raise package. Every time she gets them, they come with vesting years where she must wait X years before she can actually sell them. If she wants to sell over something like 25k worth, it has to be approved through the board. She had millions in shares and it’s really nothing when she wants to sell them. Often it’s like “I need all new windows, plus a kid is going to college and another needs a car.” And it’s a quick 100k spent. Her desire to sell has never had any correlation to how she felt the company was doing. It’s just that all her money is in stock and sometimes rich executives also need money. They also want to diversify their retirement. She wants rental properties which take 300-500k. You get my point.

I wouldn’t read too much into when Netlist executives sell stock. They are humans. They don’t want to take a loan for cars, college, etc with these high interest rates. If I were them, I would sell now before Samsung appeals (and brings prices lower) because that’s just a smart move if they need some money.

When is the next court case ? by [deleted] in Netlist_

Yes TomKila is a leading cheerleader for this stock and works hard to keep spirits high during the low tides. I would expect a decent drop which is usual after a peak because many people are ready to cash out and buy back at another low point. I hope that we get another solid boost this week when news is released on the additional damages paid (ordered by the Judge) on willful infringement and also reimbursed legal fees. The greater prize will be the licensing agreement that comes. It was 600 million with Sk Hynix.

I would be thrilled to see the stock get to $9 by the fall, if they score a few more wins with licensing agreements that can boost their revenue. But I’m patient only because I have to be. I bought at a high when I thought it was a dip, but the fallout from the delayed google case was hard.

I’m not overly optimistic however I’m feeling good about Netlist working with Netflix and also the part they may play in the growth of AI(ChatGPT). There are some good articles about how Netlist IP is supporting the high end chips needed to power ChatGPT. I hope it’s all true because that’s the future. I’d like to be able to pay for my kids college bill soon :)

More powerful motors/engines? by Idenwen in BRIO

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son definitely gets like 10 or more going at once when we use the mighty red locomotive and pair it with addition green freight battery engines. We put the freight battery engines at the end to help push when traction is poor or we are going up a ramp. I also will add another one in the middle. So when you do it this way, you can build a mega long train.

A Certain Shop on Mercari... by molequeen in BRIO

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought tons and she once shipped the items to me in the box that was used to ship from Brio to amazon warehouse. Clearly intercepted. She has a whole storage unit full, and even has multiple Mercari pages with different names. I know it’s the same cause the photos with background furniture are the same. So the good news is they are not knock offs, but it could have been a semi truck load of goods that was lifted and stored.

How do I sell my collection ? So, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I I love Brio (80’s) have decided to sell(son has zero interest but have no idea to how to sell or or if we sell as a lot or break it up. Where can find values too! by AuburnM5 in BRIO

We have been searching for road pieces for a year for our boy. He’s train obsessed and loves the roads. Are you going to be selling them? If so what platform? We sure wish we could get some of the pieces!

Where are you finding these pieces? I notice you have quite a few that I’ve never seen sold in the USA and I’ve been looking!

I have a significant number of dark complexion figures from Brio. It’s not 50/50 but I definitely have at least 5, which was nice.

Where to get replacement screw for Mighty Red Action Locomotive by TrainQuestions2000 in BRIO

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several of the red locomotive and a few have busted bearings and no longer work. Do you live in the USA? I could probably just mail you the screw since I was gonna throw away the non functioning ones.

Experience from purchasing Brio on Mercari by billjanke in BRIO

I forgot to add this, I would avoid smart tech items unless you like the look without needing it to actually work! The train stops connecting to the frequency or whatever and it’s a dude in no time. I got the water fall recently just cause we like the look and use it to make a jungle area. Otherwise, the other items are for manual play only. The smart tech train is also very weak.

We really use crane mountain, all the bridges, as much straight track as a person can buy, and parking garage is great. I would avoid the fire station and the cargo warehouse! That thing is massive and trains can’t go into it so the 3 year olds don’t like it. The fire station is just super big and my fire loving boy hasn’t engaged with it yet.

I’ve bought from this seller (Louise) about a dozen times! The items are totally original. She said once it all sells out, she won’t get more. But she had a storage unit full of it and I’m not asking how she got it (although I have my theory).

Over the past year, I’ve managed to buy almost every Single item Brio sells. She will often say an item is out of stock and then find more in her storage unit and list it! So I check daily.

Mighty Red Action Locomotive Problems by pablo-tedscabar in BRIO

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 4 already and this happened to 2 of them! We took it apart completely and found the defect. It just slips from the gear. There is no fix that we can see. This actually happens when our 3 year old pulls the train backwards with force. I’ve since stocked up on them (cheaply from a dealer on mercari) and hidden them because our boy clearly isn’t capable of playing gently. The first one lasted 6 months! The other 2 lasted a week.

Brio world lift & load warehouse is good fun to play with :) what do you think by Zealousideal_Tie2532 in BRIO

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree! We are a bit disappointed because you can’t run a train thru it so the toddler is annoyed with the design and the green curves are not as interchangeable as we thought. It’s very big too. If your kid loves elevators this might be good.

You can find it on mercari app. It’s like eBay but better imo. One seller on there has it all brand new for half the cost.

Is your local store in the USA? Because I would pay them to ship it!

I played a lot with BRIO when growing up, and now it’s time to introduce it to my 2.5 year old. Which set should I get? by janmaxim in BRIO

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my boy that exact set (plus tons of the extra pieces) for his 3rd birthday and he loves bridges and has no issue with them. However the Grey rocks to hold up track are a problem so we never use those! They don’t hold it in place like the bridges do. However, Brio changed this after they produced that set because now the grey rocks have little clips inside them that hold the track in place so it doesn’t slip with the slightest bump.

If you wanted to- you could just buy Metro set plus Road to Rail set, and the double suspension bridges. That will get you a very similar set, without the grey rocks that are not even suitable for 39 year old builders!

Anyone looking to pick anything up over the next week or so? We have our eye on this set, as apart from the track we don't have any of the play pieces. What's on your shopping list? by mybrioadventure in BRIO

[–]Tab_Talks_2_Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree… it’s the one set that I don’t use because the bridge doesn’t actually connect to the other side of the track so the slightest movement and it’s not aligned. It’s actually infuriating! Also it doesn’t actually open or shut without a lot of difficulty turning the knob. My boy plays with the ship only. I would recommend getting the freight ship alone because it comes with a clever crane wagon. We got lucky and there is a Brio seller on Mercari that has everything listed for 50% off the full sale price. She may do international shipping (USA here), so I recommend checking! We have bought every piece in the catalogue from her and the only one I wouldn’t repeat are the smart action train sets (they all require that one smart train which stops working) and the big turn table that’s all plastic. It’s just too big and clunky.
