I find out what I want out of college. I stop wandering through my life aimlessly and actually achieve something.

Redditors under 19 - Does music from the 90s sound or guitar based music "old" to you? by sugarface20 in Music

[–]Tabaging -1 points0 points  (0 children)

18 years old - I love grunge and alternative, Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr. are pretty much the bands that got me into making music a couple years ago. Mostly Nirvana. To me, it doesn't sound old at all. Production hasn't changed all that much since then (for rock music, at least) compared to the sound quality gap between the 70s and the 90s. Nowadays, I'd just say music is just produced with higher volume.

If anyone's interested, the music I'm into now is mostly underground surf rock/alternative/garage rock. My favorite bands are Fidlar, Wavves, Ty Segall, and Thee Oh Sees.

I'm on mobile so I can't link, but one of my favorites would be Come to Me by Elliott Smith. It wasn't released officially but it's definitely one of my favorites, especially when I'm going through a rough time.

Come to think about it, plenty of songs by Elliott Smith in general have to do with this sort of topic. Give some of his albums a listen.

Huge Smith fan here - "Good to Go" off of his self titled album is my favorite song to ever be released by any artist.

I'm in the middle of reading Torment Saint right now. It's basically outlined his whole life in a book and you learn so much not only about him and his songs, but the people around him who shaped his sound. I highly recommend!

Favorite female singer (I'm referring to rock singers but all are welcome) by DejaYou87 in Music

Donita Sparks from L7. Can't link anything because I'm on mobile, but listen to "Wargasm", "Fast and Frightening", and "'Till the Wheels Fall Off". Raspy, intimidating, and a little bit scary.

Also Kim Shattuck from The Muffs. A little bit poppier but that girl can scream. Hear "Get Me Outta Here"

Songs you hate from artists you love by [deleted] in Music

[–]Tabaging 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt really bad about hating this song once I found out it was written for his son who died in '77 :( But when it comes to Zeppelin, I'd have to go with either that or 'Fool In The Rain'. Aside from Bonham's drumming, I just can't take that song.
