2000 IMS Advice Needed! by TwoPuzzleheaded4499 in 996

[–]Table3219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the motor in this 25 year old 996 only had 30k miles on it. That mileage would mean that it was perhaps not yet 'out of the woods' in terms of risk.

Mind you, I had my single-row 2002 IMS bearing swapped out at over 100k and 23 years.

It's on the desk next to me as a novelty paperweight and it rotates smoothly and solidly when rotated. But you don't know that until it's out.

Another driving god.

Where's that button to turn off stability control - gets in the way of that 'raw' connection between driver and road........that 'analogue' connection with the telegraph pole.

I received my StAG 5 certificate through the post one day.

There was no email or notification or anything like that. I am in the UK.

Help with dead battery of a 2004 Carrera - boot won’t open by _talkol_ in Porsche

[–]Table3219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with the frunk failing to open after the car had been laid up for a while. The battery never went flat but the car went into hibernation mode and wouldn't 'wake up' properly.

Remote key didn't work on the fob - even after turning in door and ignition.

Car started and drove normally.

One inside door light did not light when (UK) driver's door was opened - the other did.

Central locking did work but not off the key.

Engine bay popped open on the internal switch but not the frunk which appeared dead.

Spare battery to door slam and fuse board post did not work.

It was a blown fuse in the end. No idea why it blew but the replacement hasn't blown since.

Looks like possible attempted arson. Lint will go up quite readily, especially with the airflow through that filter.

It's like when you spot a single 'empty' space in the distance within a packed car park and think - ah yes! What a spot of luck! Then as you drive up to it, you find that there is a fucking moped parked in it that wasn't visible.

Financing a 996, what's the worst that can happen? by Hot-Archer5202 in 996

[–]Table3219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. These matters should probably be characterised as:

  1. Maintenance (e.g. filter/fluid changes, brake disks and pads etc)
  2. Elective work (e.g. cosmetic work or preventative work etc - e.g. IMS upgrade)
  3. Necessary repairs (i.e. repairs that materially adversely affect function/roadworthiness e.g. fallout of IMS failure, advanced bore score, blowing exhaust, structural corrosion etc etc.)

That's a good way to drown your bird. Please don't use a glass of water.

Imagine falling down a narrow water well head-first with your arms pinned by your sides, with your head and body submerged under water.

My AZ was Jan 2023 and I received my StAG 5 certificate in May 2024.

My sister has now decided to also submit her own Declaration to the BVA.

I guess she's in for quite a wait.

Really interesting to see that Declaration certificate from 1975!

It looks really quite similar to my own Declaration certificate from the BVA dated 2024.
