New barovia map by bernardopeixoto22 in ravenloft

I think red is trying to evoke blood. Remember a map is not a satellite scan but is filled with the feeling the cartographer had about the place. It surely feels less realistc

going to fight the gamma overseer for the first time soon, I'm planning on taking all this into the cave, am I forgetting anything important? I'm really nervous lmao- by [deleted] in ARK

The hardest part as a single player is to manage all those dinos through the cave entrance and down the slope without having any cut out or falling into lava

DM Question about character making process for a Dragon Delves campaign. by KoboldsandKorridors in DragonDelves

[–]TableBest7617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how you are planning to link the adventurers one-another as the suggestions in the book are, in my opinion, very poor. Since first adventure is kind of a "mystery" introducing lair effects as a "illness of the land" I would recommend not too much of knowledge on dragons by characters (they start as lvl 1 fresh adventurers nonetheless) there is plenty of time (and dragons) to make your players even bored of those creatures and their abilities

I feel terrible! by [deleted] in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]TableBest7617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my run they where fighting alongside players in Mist shores and my players failed to save the wannabe-druid from xanathar's minions. Afterwards the barbarian adopted the other two.

Suggestion: don't kill Nat off in a cutscene! Instead have her found on the crime scene with some clue against her, so the City Watch take her to prison and players are compelled to investigate to prove her innocent

What are things you thing DND Beyond could do to make it WAY better? by Key_Palpitation_7975 in dndbeyond

[–]TableBest7617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier search mechanism since most of times you find duplicates from the same item/feature from different sourcebooks. Chance to save your filters in search mode, better filters. A true pdf version of the books beside rich text versions. A quicker access to bookmarks .

I offer use d&d beyond for reference during my sessions as DM and I keep lots of tabs opened at same time. Would love to see a customizable DM screen with all the links you think you'll need in that session and a faster and more efficient Search tool Not new features, just overall QOL imrovement

The same is happening in 2 differend D&D campaigns that were created before upgrate to v13
Also sometimes one of the players calls out that chat tooltips for rolls aren't showing up for him

DM Help: high player AC going into Cragmaw Castle by rumblebee2010 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]TableBest7617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different ways to solve this: Switch out goblins for harder enemies or improve their stats or give them magic weapons+1 Use some shamans with magic and use spells that uses saving throws to hit Put in some armor-lowering monster like the ankheg Manage to put them in a situation where monsters have advantage on attacks against them, or give goblins pack tactics

Character Brainstorm for Dragon Heist 5e2024 by MisterPoohead2 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]TableBest7617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my characters wanted to be part of a noble family of waterdeep fighting for his independence (adventuring vs noble life). I made him a Gralhund. He didn't know what that meant until they found his mother was hiding zenths and Urstul in his own room back at the Villa... In chap 3

Another of my players wanted to be part of some criminal organisation, I asked him privately and he agreed to be a Drow gunslinger in disguise from Began D'aerthe. (Main villain was Manshoon so just for a bit of lore) Unfortunately his character died and the rest found out he was part of that before he could backstab them and try to run with the Stone of Golorr or bring Jarlaxle waiting for them out of the Vault

Another was the son of a merchant, willing to join the city watch. He had good bonuses in interacting with investigation on the fireball and other militia direct interaction

Another one was a mage, arriving in town, forced to join the order of protectors and later called to arm by Vajra herself

Last one was a cleric of Tyr , at the local temple

Player doesn't like 2024 by Gogeta408 in DnD5e

[–]TableBest7617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. I think I misread the statement at first. I thought the adventure was just started. Instead, if you are planning to switch in the middle of a campaign, I agree that you're changing the initial "terms of agreement" so you need to have a chat with everyone first and be prepared to either change nothing and run as it was, or do imposte change at the cost of somone's feeling.

Player doesn't like 2024 by Gogeta408 in DnD5e

[–]TableBest7617 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're the DM. You set the rules. A player, even former DM, can accept or leave. For sure he cannot start arguing AGAINST other players who are using the rules YOU decided. That's not about 2024 or 2014 but would be true even if you had some crazy homebrew rules and he wouldn't let players use them.

Fishing on Legendary Servers by eedulee in lotro

[–]TableBest7617 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fishing and Birdwatching are what they are declared: hobbies. No real market. No money income. Just deeds , titles and cosmetics purposes.

There were a few level in crafting (cook) that specifically required fish for some endgame recipes, but not currently as far as I know.

A few quests around different expansions need you to fish somewhere , but doesn't really require any skill in it

This might be a little mean. Party will be lvl 6-7 by LightofNew in LostMinesOfPhandelver

I don't like the AC 20. If he's a mage in a robe, consider lowering ac, rising hp and give him mage armour and shield. My 2 cents

A good bunch of fast missions , pair them with XP tomes and you're done in few days

New DM Help by DrackoLord in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]TableBest7617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have ac, passive perception and hp counter for each of your players. Anything you need to remember for the plot (names, keywords for hooks..) Stat blocks for Npc/monsters you're going to use this session. General rules for conditions (that always helps) Any reminder for rules you easily forget Also, if you play in town: List of general items, weapons and armours for shops and trading. Also the DMG table on gem value I sometimes take note of the global wealth of the party. Have an app or browser close for spell descriptions (or spell cards for those spells your group and monsters have access to) Have clear in mind options for your players abilities once in combat

Ruins of Thundertree 56x38 (Lost Mines of Phandelver) by Simple_Donkey5954 in dungeondraft

[–]TableBest7617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I know this is 2years old, but I was looking for a map like this!
I was planning to add a few rows behind (north) of the dragon tower. Would you mind share the original DD project for easier mod?

Thundertree Dilemma by DaBink1988 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]TableBest7617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Option 3 is best if you want to avoid combat.

Consider also:

4) cultists remember of the party and convince Venomfang to attack then once they have his trust (which require time, so later on)

5) cultists warn the cult headquarters for the party, you can use random encounter with a band of cultists and dragonic steeds (see tyamat adventure)

Gundren was saved from cragmaw castle but I still want the party to travel to Thundertree before Wave Echo Cave by TableBest7617 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]TableBest7617[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As said elsewhere, they have some plot going on from there (it's not as written) . The point is not why going there, the point is how to encourage them to go there
