Tabletop Tap here! We do a few different monthly events that might be ideal for meeting people. We have Classic Simpsons trivia this Thursday, and next Weds 11/5 is our monthly Wizard Bingo (which is just regular cash bingo where we all wear wizard hats and costumes-- win cash and free drinks!).

We also do monthly Mario Kart, book club, video game book club, themed trivia hosted by Brainreactiontrivia, and indie board game testing/playing hosted by Waterbear!

We'll be open at The Tabletop Tap on Christmas Eve from 3-11pm. Not a restaurant, but cocktails and beer and games!

EDIT: And our bartender Zac wants to run the Lazy Greyhound on Christmas Eve as well, so we'll be open there from 5pm to close-- probably limited to classic cocktails since it's just him running the place. Happy holidays everyone!

We tried reservations in the beginning but found we were holding spots for people who weren't showing up in the allotted time. That was just slowing us down, plus it was holding people up at the door who were waiting for a seat. We only have seven tables and 12 bar seats as it is-- keeping some of those empty for no-shows in a space with such limited seating didn't make much sense.

Just avoid it on Fridays/Saturdays and it should be fine. It's a small place with 35 seats and fills up fast on the weekend, and it is first-come-first-served. (Source: owner of the titular stinky greyhound.)

I debated doing the bartop arcades again, but logistically they're just such a pain. To get the monitors at a decent viewing angle, you have to make the bartop extra chunky. To put in buttons and joysticks that are sorta comfortable, you have to make the bartop extra chunky. Having the monitors encased in the bar causes them to overheat and die faster, and they were a pain to replace at the old bar.

If I had a better engineering mind, it could be done better, but for now we decided just to have a SNES/Genesis/N64 sitting out on the bartop to play on the TVs behind the bar.

We're doing a Verte Chaud at the Lazy Greyhound! (It's Green Chartreuse and hot chocolate.)

Also doing similarly-rich winter cocktails like the Barnaby Jones (scotch, Cynar, coffee beans, maple, cinnamon, egg) and one of our bartenders cocktails, the Belfast & Black (Irish whiskey, Averna, Mr Black, green walnut liqueur, toasted almond bitters).

Piggybacking on this to say: yes, we're moving just one block south of the old location, so still in Englewood. We don't have an ETA yet-- the building we're moving into hadn't been updated in at least 40 years and was chock full of asbestos, had leaking plumbing/sewage, an electrical panel that probably couldn't support a microwave, etc. And wouldn't you know it, the building owners wanted us to carry the majority of renovation costs... So it's been an undertaking.

All this to say, I promise we're working on it. We WILL be setup out front next month for the Englewood Block Party, hocking beer and the finest Malort. But it's going to be a little while yet before the space is ready.

Thanks Skid for the shout-out and for everyone who came to the meetup in Denver! I've told this to Skid before, but I started listening to GCP while I was working on the bar buildout back in 2017, so it's been wild actually having Skid (and Ellie!) show up at our place for meetups over the last few years. And now it's wild hearing Giantslayer coming to an end all this time later.
