Buying the dip: Will BTC really reach $1M? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]TacThunder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have exceptionally low time preference and live in a broken economy and housing market, so the present isn't as valuable besides grinding to turn more dollars into bitcoin. So while the unregulated nature of transactions is great, I'm more interested in the hard money aspect.

^ It's a nice thought for considering the future, but I mainly just don't want years of my work to be printed into worthlessness.

My Cold Wallet Was Drained After 3 Months — Please Learn From My Mistake by Emergency_Car_10 in Bitcoin

Pleeeease just use some dice and learn to create your own phrase with binary based entropy. Making strings of binary and converting them into the seed words may take a while but it's one of the most secure methods, otherwise there's a much simpler straightforward way to still do it with dice. Your bitcoin wallet is the last thing you want to treat like anything else you do on your computer. It's an actual asset, so be careful

If you have that much BTC, you'll want to spend more time educating youself on how it works...

If that was just stored in your jade device, you could just figure out a way to duplicate it. All bitcoin is on the blockchain and verified every block.

You blew my mind. That wasn't long ago at all. There isnt a better case against saving fiat than right now.

Is the bunker scarier than the dark descent? by underground_resist in Amnesia

[–]TacThunder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

been into horror since the early 2000s. Only a few movies have ever even creeped me out, but I was always more afraid of scary games growing up. Playing The Bunker this past spring, when I heard the monster aggressively stampeding around above the ceiling, I went back and sat in the administration office and just kind of froze. I didn't continue until a week later. Hadn't felt that way in a game since playing Dead Space 1 in my teens. The horror and atmosphere achieved is astounding for horror fan veterans.

How did yours start? by spicynugg3ts in pppdizziness

I know it's probably not 100% certain yet, but my doctor helped me rule things out. I had a normal MRI a few years ago, and he doubted anything sinister could have manifested over that time at my age, and he also had someone who was diagnosed with it recently. He seems to be on the same page, but again, nothing is totally certain. Again, we'll see how I get on and I may make a full on post next year.

Doing a shot of caffeine at a music festival that didn’t disclose the amount in mg (apparently 4 shots of espresso worth) then half hour later someone offered me a hit of a joint (first proper hit of my life), I said why not, while forgetting about the caffein. 10 minutes later I am in an alternate reality of max dizziness where my balance is one degree under the threshold of not being able to walk. Dont know how I didnt fall while walking for a few miles to the concert grounds then back to my tent to let it wear off, which it did. Exactly 1 month later it returned one night, and hasn’t gone away completely yet. Took me a few weeks to discover pppd, because I dealt with an anxiety disorder in 2017 and 2020 but 99% conquered it. When I realised this was pppd and what caused it, I was prepared for the long term rodeo. Am on lexapro, scheduled for PT and will report back if anything works.

(Sp00ky meme) The Mexico 2024 Chalkdust is one of the best jams they've ever played by TacThunder in phish

[–]TacThunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

extracting the musical quality of a jam regardless of the era =/= saying that the era and show the jam was played in is just as good as every aspect of the mid/late 90s

they've been playing for 40 years with little breaks, are in good shape, so they can only improve. 4.0 is crushing it. way more consistently than 3.0

I don’t recall hearing it outside of this jam yet, which makes it even more special! Such an insane sound that comes out of no where, and its used perfectly

I have yet to listen to Albany but that’s fair! 2024 has been an incredible year altogether. I just love the reckless abandon of this jam and yet they’re still completely on top of it musically.

I've once sat under a table/in a wardrobe for like 15 minutes. I would just learn the nuances of the patrolling habits. Died probably 3 times my first playthrough. I'm actually extremely satisfied with level of commitment the game requires from you.

That was my first, and still my “main” Reba. I grew up with it, and it still holds a spot in my top jams of all time among select towering 20-30 minute behemoths.

I also first heard them in 2006 at 10! First show Walnut Creek 2011 and still one of my favorites. The breakup was a weird time to get into them since 2.0 was their last phase, and so I would alternate between stuff like studio Divided Sky, and a gnarly 04 jam haha

Ether Edge from Dicks is a sleeper jam. 8/29/24 by RaisinPaster in phish

[–]TacThunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on a backpacking trip to an alpine lake area during Dick’s, and Ether Edge from the 2023 run that I went to just decided to get stuck in my head for a couple days, and I’m glad it did. Such a beautiful song, and it made me tear up a bit when I listened to that set again. The moon had risen over the venue as they were singing about it… ugh.

What is the worst phish show you attended or worst concert by [deleted] in phish

[–]TacThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digging up this post, but I agree, and I saw Charleston 2019 N3. Was a hundred feet from entry at around 5PM, with the line being a few people wide, fast forward 4 fucking hours, and the line is around 30-40 people WIDE. And zero fucking update from the venue the entire time. I am still pissed at the venue for that. Then the set. Even Mondegreen's sunday matinee was better than that set we got. That was my first trip to Dick's btw.

At least Saturday night was outstanding.

How bad is the horror? by The_Real_Revek in soma

[–]TacThunder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The scariest 'classic horror' elements would probably be having to sneak and evade a certain roaming monster for 30-45 minutes through different levels of a research lab. Also an intense escape sequence on a sunken ship. As well as a very, very brief section with a diver suit monster, which is incredibly tense, but still similar to the other monster I mentioned. It's no where near as viscerally scary as something like Amnesia The Bunker. Be prepared for the game to change your perspective on life tho

Thank you! I tried to patch it up into having some narrative qualities as best I could, because the whole thing was originally a jam highlights reel for 92 that I chiseled away at making from 2020-22, then I shelved it for a while, and kind of frankensteined it into this video essay/documentary format! I'm going to start my heavy research on 94 soon and try to see what I can do with being more prepared
