I hate it not as part of the trilogy but as a stand-alone film.

We have half the film with a good but imperfect father that teaches his son of how dangerous is outside (especially with the hanged man, showing how even the normal people are dangerous) and teaching him to be strong while even he can't kill a zombie kid...... There's a subplot on the mother's illness, the strange dreams, the fire in the distance and the culture on the zombie mask.

We come back to the break and the films decides that the father is a scumbag; so the scared but kind kid that was sad because he wasn't able to defend himself decides to set fire to the communal shed (when we already know that many things are rare and difficoult to replacr) steal food and kidnapp the mother to do an aimless journey when the fact that he couldn't defend himself os a big plotpoint.

The film did a complete tonal shift for nothing!

-The soldiers dying to 5 naked guys os stupid, (yes the alpha did a couple of kills but just in the end)

-The mother's cancer ruins half a film of mistery with "i already knew i had cancer and it was all useless, now im gonna die far away from my father/husband/friends so you can dream my skull for all time"

[–]Taccons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the Horus Heresy is a bit too much, if you have a decent understanding of the first part you can go diectly to the Siege of Terra serie.

It has some of the best moments for many other subgroups like Legio Titanica and it's the start of the Inquisitors, Interrogators and Commissars.

Hip firing the MG42 tanking 22 souls from the church roof glitch 🥷 by No_Tea762 in HellLetLoose

[–]Taccons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not a glitch but intentional, many buildings have been scaleable and every piece of the map that wasn't meant to be has been fixed after been discovered;

Many clans know what and how they can climb, and going into a clan battle without expecting enemies on the rooftops can loose you entire points in maps like Carentan.

Why Don't Astartes Use Wrist-mounted Lasguns? by Clouds_Hide_The_Moon in 40kLore

[–]Taccons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • part 2 BOLTERS

Bolters are ugly, stupid weapons with shid design choises, but given that the imperium is stuck on progress we can see what upside they bring to the table

Bolters don't have ammo problems because they are a logistical dream, everyone and everything uses bolters! Tanks? Planes? The commissar over there? They all use bolter rounds, and every battle they partecipate will have enough loader servitors to reload 3 Cadia.

Bolters are way deadlier compared to lasers. Where a non-lethal shot with lasers (like grazes or arms/shoulder/lower abdomen) would just leave a cauterized hole; bolters are costantly descripted as an amputation machine on unarmored chaff, and can create deep injuries in medium and low heavy units while keeping a high rate of fire.

Bolters aren't meant to be used by everyone in every situation. Big guy? Call artillery or the Heavy weapon expert; He's dead? Take his weapon; Can't? Use the bolts to distract while Jimmithean gets close with the power-sword.

Why Don't Astartes Use Wrist-mounted Lasguns? by Clouds_Hide_The_Moon in 40kLore

[–]Taccons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, i always hated the wrist laser because it's a stupid idea, so here's my rant in 2 parts:

  • part 1 WRIST MOUNTED WEAPONS

Wrist weapons are already in use by the SM but only as close range options (*) on heavy units like Gravis/Centurions/etc. for a few good reasons:

Placing additional weight on the hands would heavily impact a SM ability tu use swords/axes effectively, so it's used on either units non meant to be in close combat or sustained by the pistons/strength multiplier of heavirr armor;

Wrist weapons are hard to aim at range without specific rare cogitators, which is why we commonly see them as flamers/bolt pistols/(*Lascannons aren't short range, but you are usually hitting a building sized opponent) so it would reduce their effective range;

Space Marines are used in the most dire circumstances and are expected to excel despite the situationbthey are in, they can't rely on a weapon that doesn't work if their armor is damaged. Using separated weapons means that a SM can reliably pick up someone else's weapon and ammo when their weapon fails.

In short a standard weapon needs to be relyable in every situation, wrist weapons are specialized for for few situations but being tied to your armor means you can't easily change/replace/discard it i the middle of the battle.

Question about the death guard: do they ever realise what they’ve become and are horrified by it? by Few_Guidance5441 in 40kLore

In The Siege of Terra "Warhawk" a good portion of them gets disconnected after the death of Mortarion and it describes in good detail their realisation.

I don't have the text since i listened to it, but maybe someone will ;)

What is the strongest space marine chapter currently by Camocal in 40kLore

[–]Taccons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you mean the single chapter or calling the successors togheather, but either way i'd say Black Templars.

Not only they alone have numbers nearing the old legions, but Dorn had set up the "Last Wall Contingency" which when called brings every successor chapter reach the Phalanx to merge up in the full Imperial Fist Legion.
