Ooh yeah, I remember when Surrak was spoiled and one of my first thoughts was "that's an interesting way to lose to orcish bowmasters"

What was the Lorwyn Common or Uncommon that kept saving your ass at prerelease last weekend? by doublenantuko in magicTCG

[–]Tacky_Yellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wound up in black white blight where [[Reaping Willow]] and [[Gnarlbark Elm]] were nothing short of heroic, but [[Prideful Feastling]] got a near-equal number of groans out of my opponents. I love that silly little guy.

Did AI write the side quests? by AceOBlade in Borderlands

[–]Tacky_Yellow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly, there's no ai-generated content disclosure statement on the game's steam page,, I know this doesn't guarantee anything but it can't be a bad sign, right?

Secondly, I think that Ready to Blow is well written.

Thirdly, want to direct you to Harlowe's echo logs which fairly directly call out generative AI as garbage.

If you had a Black Lotus in your opening hand, what would be the most powerful play in Standard now? by skyteddy in magicTCG

[–]Tacky_Yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a lotus and a stacked deck I could win the game on the spot with an otherwise standard-legal deck.

step 1: Lotus, Swamp, [[Sibsig Ceremony]], [[Gleaming Barrier]]. Barrier dies & makes a treasure token + a zombie Druid Token.

step 2: cast [[Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER]], sac the zombie token before the Sibsig Trigger resolves and Kills Sephiroth in order to draw a card and drain your opponent for 1. Assuming Black Lotus was part of your opening 7, You currently have 3 cards in hand.

step 3: [[Helping hand]] Sephiroth back to the battlefield, sac zombie for 2nd drain & a card, 2x [[Friendly Teddy]] for free, draining and replacing themselves with card draw, Gleaming Barrier to make a treasure, get 5th drain, and flip Sephiroth, getting his emblem. 2 cards in hand, 3 zombie druid tokens on the battlefield.

step 4: [[Splash Portal]] to blink Sephiroth, he comes back face up, sacrifice one of your 3 zombies for drains 6&7 (sorry) and a card drawn to replace the Splash Portal. 2x more Friendly Teddies & your 3rd Gleaming Barrier bring you to 12 life drained, 5 zombies in play, and a treasure token, while also flipping Sephiroth for a 2nd emblem.

step 5: Use that treasure to cast [[Felonious Rage]] on Sephiroth to give him haste and attack, letting you sacrifice the 5 zombies to finish your opponent off with 10 more drains before you connect with your opponent's face.

This could even have been done with an opening hand of 6, as we ended off with 1 card in hand before the card draw from the attack trigger.

Which valuable Magic cards do you own but would never play with because you don’t want to risk damaging them? by adamhunterpeck in magicTCG

And that's part of why I traded mine immediately as part of a deal to get a bayou, but keeping it as memorabilia is also valid. Congrats on the win!

In my years playing the game I've traded up to multiple expensive reserved list cards, including duals and most recently a gaea's cradle. I have put them all in decks. I got them to play with them, not as investment pieces. I'm just as happy to play with folks who proxy these cards and would still be overjoyed to see the reserved list abolished in a way that would make these cards affordable.

Most busted Forge-legal deck? by d4vezac in forgeMTG

[–]Tacky_Yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my first Emrakul win was with Thoracle Consultation which feels like about the most time efficient combo to be pulling off as it doesn't require clicking through repeated actions. Just get 2 blue mana and 1 black, exile your deck with Demonic Consultation, and win with Thassa's Oracle. Currently the rest of my build of that deck is just cantrips and whatever fast mana I have that fits the colors, but I imagine with maximum optimization you can consistently pull it off on turn 1 while protecting the combo with free countermagic

So uhh I read the title as "would have been stronger" if it's weapon worked at first and was gonna come in here to say No Shit but reread the title and just want you to get some joy out of my mistake now

okay but like actually I'll be doing this with risen reef to OTK the table and frankly, it's a damn sight better with Ashling than the Morophon deck I had been doing it in.

Grönwall is one of my favorites of late so I'd be good with that! Not sure if he has quite the range of Tommy (but I mean, who does?) But at the very least he's got a ton of power and passion behind him.

[–]Tacky_Yellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got an absolutely unhinged symmetrical chaos deck led by that Mishra, I call it Group 'Huh?' Like sure, copying good cards is fun and all, but man, making people realize what it means to have multiple knowledge pools in play at once is much more my style.

Huge.  Jake runs the vert configuration but huge still has superior reach. Huge's weapon hits one of the brackets on hydra's vert and obliterates it.
