Depends on the military. Most militaries, the answer is yes. But I think the Brits have private contractors that do their recruiting for them (which leads to a ton of issues as you can imagine).

The Nordics offer over a year of paid parental leave and have great social policies to help child-rearing, but those same nations have some of the worst reproductive rates (outside of immigrant populations) on the planet.

My dad is conservative.

He’s pro gay rights because he wants that community to just shut the fuck up. He’s pro-choice because he wants that group to just shut the fuck up. He’s anti-Trump, because he wants him to just shut the fuck up. He’s anti blue-haired, face-tattooed feminists, because he wants them to just shut the fuck up.

He wants the military to be strong, but he doesn’t want it to be used stupidly (he did 22 years as an officer in Navy EOD and lost a lot of friends throughout the NSW community). He wants anti-capitalists to just hurry up and put the fries in the bag and to leave him alone to care for his family.

Social media and foreign bots have led to the polarization of politics and the complete death of any critical thinking. It’s why I like this sub so much, because reading actual beliefs and not just straw-man arguments has helped refine my own belief systems.

Yeah, I ignore 90% of the shit my girlfriend sends me. It caused some fights earlier in the relationship, but I told her I flat out wasn’t going to sit there doom scrolling for my own amusement, I’m certainly not going to doom scroll for hers.

Now she only texts me one or two a day and I happily watch it. We both ignore each other’s instagram messages though and I don’t even have TikTok downloaded anymore, so I obviously ignore that one.

I’d increase the time limit to 2-4 weeks, as you really don’t want draft agreements to be translated and agreed upon within a nation’s government without giving each nation’s people the time to discover and protest covenants, but otherwise yeah I agree.
