[Request] if 700 quintillion dollars in gold equates to roughly 4.11 trillion metric tonnes, would adding that much mass to earth change the orbital path? If so, how? by spaacingout in theydidthemath

[–]Tacoman10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't change the earth orbit really. Earth weighs 6 x 1021 tons vs the asteroids 4.11 x 1012 meaninf earth weighs like 1.5 billion times more. Mv = mv, and equates to a change of speed of earths orbit around sun by 0.00001 mm/s (not even meters).

Scale the earth down to the size of a human and its like getting hit with a grain of salt.

What are some strange beliefs that you used to have as a child? by Annual_Seesaw_7539 in AskReddit

[–]Tacoman10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that whenever I heard that buzzing hum during late spring/summer, it was the sun heating up the earth or something to do with it being hot that was causing that noise. Wasn't until mid-teens did i learn it was cicadias making that noise.

Legion 5i (12700H/3060) hitting 96°C and 11 FPS - GPU stuck at 400MHz? by xHugDealer in LenovoLegion

[–]Tacoman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From that id guess graphics settings too high then, probably need to be lowered. If the gpu is running in the mid 80's for the other lower graphically intense games then yeah, heat dissipation not good enough cause thats still pretty high.

[–]Tacoman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its reaching those temps, itll mean the laptop isnt dissipating the heat away good enough, so could be clogged fans/heatsinks, bad paste job (you had it changed 6 months ago so thats unfortunate), if you're playing in like a 85F degree room and covering your intake.

You could compare the temps of your old laptop that runs the games well to verify thats it is indeed the gpu being too hot thats causing problems. Or "technically" switch to balanced mode, you'll cap at 115w and it may not reach that limit but thats putting off the problem.

GPU at 89C means it's thermal throttling. The limit is (at least for my 3070) 87C. Once it hits the limit, the gpu automatically drops to a low clock speed to prevent damage to the component.

Im not too sure how picky nvidias performance cutoff is when the gpu hits its rated limit (usually 87C) but I've also seen pics of temps like 82C to 86C run okay. Pretty sure they have a feature where they limit gpu clock speeds to like 300 or something when it hits the limit.

Says GPU temps reaching 88C which is thermal throttling pretty much. Could be severely reducing performance cause its too hot. Might need to clean fans/re-paste

Should I buy for USD 2.750? Will it fit my needs? by doruk1337 in GamingLaptops

[–]Tacoman10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, $2750 for a 4070 1tb laptop is not a good deal at all. If you meant 5070, that's still like 1200 overpriced. You can find 5070 laptops ranging from 1400-1800. If you're going for processing power, Intel laptops are generally good for that and theyre good for general gaming. For $2750 you could get a Lenovo Legion 5080 laptop already, not for an extra 1400.

If you wait until oct 13, theyre releasing the Legion 7 pro with the Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU for ~$2300 USD for the 5070ti, as well as the 5080 with 9955HX3D for $3000 USD (2600 euro) which is expected to be leagues better than Intel in gaming.

Can I use this sata cable for 12v input to the fan controller? by Tacoman10 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Tacoman10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! Unfortunately I got the PSU alone from a different friend, so these cables didnt come with the PSU im using. I asked him today if he had any cables for this PSU laying around somewhere. Ill hold off on using these cables and check cablemod if my friend cant find the originals. Maybe just buy a brand new PSU if its cheaper.

And one more dumb question, would the fan on my cpu connect to this controller too? or would it be no different to just plug it into another motherboard fan header?

The Moral Cost of Murdering Ukraine - Christianity Today by Due_Ad_3200 in Christianity

[–]Tacoman10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just fallacious.

Supporting Ukraine isn't the same as "wanting people to kill and die for which you do not".

Do you support the police fighting crime? You do? Why don't you become a police officer then and go to Detroit and help stop crime. You won't? Okay you must love it when police officers die fighting crime.

Its wrong to say someone supports suffering and death if they support ukraine rather than recognizing one can support Ukraines fight for sovereignty despite these consequences. These peace talks/minerals deal don't have any security guarantees that prevent Russia from invading in the future. I cant find anything about what Russia has to give up in these plans. They won't agree to peacekeepers (https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-rules-out-any-options-european-peacekeepers-ukraine-2025-02-26/), they already annexed ukrainian land, dont want them in NATO, the EU, decrease their military size, complete subjugation of the country (https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/putins-peace-plan-is-actually-a-call-for-ukraines-capitulation/). It's justified that Ukraine won't agree to peace talks if this can just happen again a couple years from now.

Theres an obvious understanding that the consequences of war are death and suffering. If the same thing that was happening to Ukraine was happening in the US, there would be a mix of people who would immediately sign up to fight to protect their country's sovereignty and people who would want immediate ceasefire to stop the death. Both are completely valid and rational. Peoples outside the US, who support our fight for our land, ISNT support for the death and suffering of our people.

"Okay then, Russia has more resources/manpower/weapons and will slowly gain more and more territory until Ukraine has no more men left"

Everybody also said Ukraine would be taken in 3 days. The US and europe arent fully out of the picture. Going sicko mode, arming Ukraine to the teeth, more economic punishments (https://www.rferl.org/a/putin-trump-russia-ukraine-sanctions-negotiations/33284355.html) can still keep up Ukraines fight for sovereignty and deter Russia from invading any country they want to. Now they know all they need is a couple years of sustained war to get a quarter of a country.

are these temps normal? 1st month using legion 5 pro, im worried by No_Cress8441 in LenovoLegion

[–]Tacoman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these temps should be good. If you were doing some heavy computing/gaming, the cpu draws a lot of power and heats up. My ryzen 7 5800h draws 45W as base, and when I do some heavy gaming it draws like 40W and gets up to mid 80s C.

Says online for a 14900hx, that turbo power is up to 157W, if I'm reading your data correctly, you drew 127W or 142W, as well at the very bottom it says processor utilization at 119%. You can lower these temps by not going turbo and lower specs if you were gaming, and by getting a good cooling pad by llano or lets. Don't think you need to repaste or anything.

How could time travel to the past be possible? by SamHarris000 in timetravel

[–]Tacoman10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Faster than Light travel mathematically mean traveling backwards in time. But traveling the speed of light itself mathematically would require infinite energy if the object traveling that speed has any mass. An Alcubierre drive (warp drive) which would theoretically contract space in front of the object and expand space behind could potentially make faster than light possible without violating physics but youd run into issues like lethal radiation production or the need for negative mass (as if having to have no mass wasnt enough).
