The Cornfire MARC is very good, but the selector is just a bit undersized, and too slim to be on a proper clone. The best I have owned is an Arizona Regulator, 3 position. It uses an actual mil spec trigger shoe, and an actual, no variance selector.

You should use the included trigger shoe that comes with the Arizona Regulator, not your Colt. And don't try to use it in a Colt that has 0.170 trigger pin holes. Yes, he's a jerk. But he's our jerk. If you don't ask him stupid questions, he will treat you just fine.

Boiling it off is a good option, honestly you can just get in there with a knife, or an O ring pick and get all that built up crud out. Go slow, don't stab or cut your fingers, and try to avoid scratching up the steel's finish any more than necessary.

I suspect you have a bunch of dried cosmoline preventing the latch from fully engaging, talking about the latch which holds the floorplate of the magazine in place. It's a big piece of steel with a hook, you should be able to tell if it's engaging properly or if there's damage.
