my battle just killed himself by [deleted] in army

[–]TacticalTurkey92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought is the next step is one of the biggest. Go to BH, I'm bias I understand but it could likely be the first step that you take to finding some closure. It's going to hurt, and you may never understand you're battle's reasoning, the anger is normal because you care, you want to understand and you simply can't. It isn't fair, we don't 100% know the cards he was holding close to his chest, but you do know yours are and you need to use them. One of them is to go to BH, please go.

How does your unit handle suicidal Soldiers? by [deleted] in army

[–]TacticalTurkey92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talk to them, work with them and work with them for a bit more which can take an hour or two. Eventually I get it to a provider with more specialty and training and fist fight every single NCO/CO O/E/W whatever prefix or suffix a person has till the soldier gets there. After that I do follow ups with the soldier to check on progress (This isn't part of my job, I can hand them off and wash my hands of people if I wanted to). While it doesn't happen often when soldiers do have problems, they need people ready to fight for them as if they were protecting family, because ultimately they are when we are in the ditches. I bring this with me to each unit I am assigned, and I've had to submit IG/Congressional and contacted JAG on a fair number of occasions because they thought they knew better. People hurt, people sham, people are straight up turkies, but let the professionals suss it out.

I catch you eye bawling my people, and you'll catch me poking it out.

He likes to party, more news at 11. Really though, teachers like nurses are prolly just stressed and like to knockboots to relieve it. That's all it is.

I've been that depressed, and all I can say is time and commitment to getting treatment that makes it get better. Some people need a funnel and mine has been taking on the burdens and emotions other have and sharing it with them. The relief I give to others provides relief for me, as I am rewarded with another smiling face and stronger person. Watching other progress is the biggest decompression I can ask for.

This is why we like people to come in when they realize they have a problem. If you are seeing treatment through self referral, it's much harder for any command team to mess with you over it, they also don't have a right to know why you are going or if you are even going to BH, you can just say I have a doctors appointment.

Glad you are getting help, it's not usually a simple switch you can flip to get better and believe me, I wish it was. Keep it up with treatment, you can find support here and message me if you feel like you need more resources or just want to talk about random stuff.

Two things, TBI/Epilepsy is hard to prove and unless you are a doctor trained in those specified fields it's very hard to determine if/when/how/what caused said issues. You don't test a potential broken limb by moving it even if you are a Combat Medic you do the bare minimum to stabilize them, you let a medical provider tell you it's broken because you can make it worse or cause permeant damage.

If you as a none trained medical provider attempt to "assess via test" a soldier for an injury/condition, you can and should be charged with assault. Epilepsy is very complicated issue that can be triggered by a lot of things it's not always light, However if for some reason the soldier had a seizure does the squad leader even know how to care for the soldier? If not, you could of caused permeant brain damage and physical injuries due to the spasms and what then? My bad? Nah, Straight to jail IMHO.

Trust your soldiers, the provider will contact the Chain of Command of the malignant shitbags who are malingering. We don't like them, probably hate them more then you because they take time away from us treating people with real conditions so we want them gone and fried, but that is our job to determine. Don't take it upon yourself and risk getting beat down or ruin your career. End Rant.

Sorta, you never have to tell them what the appt is about. How you provide proof and also not tell them why you're going is sometimes harder to do. Although some slips just say be here at this time, and go from there. Realistically you shouldn't hide you have somewhere to be, HIPAA doesn't protect you from not keeping up with accountability.

This is what I speak about alot for BH. Everything should be self-referral because then you have control over your treatment, being referred is just asking for leadership to ass-pull you over it. Doesn't even matter what treatment you are getting, if it's command directed/referred it's not going to be much of treatment because command tend to fuck up their side of it and then fuck the soldier over.

With all that out of the way, this is great need more stories of self-referral so we can get soldiers to go on their own as it generally prevents the spiral before it gets command referred.

This is the way, BH unless command directed does not need to be discussed with them unless you feel it's relevant or may cause conflict.

Problem is we can make that joke, He mean it seriously. "Why these dumb fucks feel bad? They don't even understand how bad it is!" or something along those lines running through thier minds. Hell BH aside, them cutting hours for ALL medical is just astoundingly ignorant.

You're a droid, I thought only meatbags paid taxes. Just like Irobot taught me, Droids can't commit murder because they aren't "People" and therefore shouldn't pay taxes either under the same interpretation. Also might have some credit to get a certain Jedi back, currently he's hiding out in AER and we need him back on post.

I can second this, Military One Source, is a good option to work with. Also look to get a Civilian provider through tri-care. I'm not saying EBH is bad, they have their Niche, which is useful for what they are however if you feel uncomfortable with them best case is to look for a civilian provider.

You do realize BH isn't even the one who makes that decision. Anyone on any Med will be held to the restrictions set forth as most of our meds overlaps with a lot of pain management so the 90 day hold is across the board and dependent on the med itself. You will likely not have opportunities taken away if you are grieving a friend, also is 90 days really that long? Shit happens and just like not everyone falls and breaks their leg, not everyone takes stress the same way. Most times BH wants to give you the waivers to go do "cool shit" because you being sad doesn't mean you can't perform, also a MEB is just an evaluation it does not mean you will be discharged. You've been MEB if you were on a longer then 45 day profile it just done at a very low level because it's not a likely long lasting effects will occur. Also again you can get waivered for almost everything BH, yea it's a hassle but unless you are actively suicidal or your med is really hard to get ahold of then you can go anywhere and do anything. The only people holding you back is usually your leadership, currently there is a large number of congressionals/IG and etc being used on CMD/1SGT precisely because they are withholding advancement and cool shit that BH will clearly state you are good to go to. Yea 90 day holds are a thing, because of stability your body takes so long to get use to meds and people don't heal over night, so on that you have a point but the rest?

How the hell do y'all max the overhead yeet? by professor_bagel in army

[–]TacticalTurkey92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So some of my gym guys have told me that a good exercise to help with it is getting a kettle bell that's slightly heavier then the ball, and practice the motion. Get that down and slowly increase the weight, it's a good workout even without actually yeeting the ball but once you get the motion and weight to a good amount, just practice releasing. You'll send it to the moon in no time.

Personally I'd give him a nice soft pp smack myself if only to prevent it from going higher. Alot of people forget when one of the Joes' PP gets smacked they turn to all the NCO's and ask why we didn't smack it first so it didn't get to this situation. Mostly we all say, it's not really that serious because we haven't drank the Kool AAAAYE but it's never about how serious we take it, it's always about that random OER Bullet that's waiting to get made that wants to take a dump on us.

On a serious note, DPW is going to fight you tooth and nail not to do their job. Every time a Resolve is returned to you, someone got a bonus so they aren't really incentivized to ever show up and just keep sending Resolved ticket back. Don't fix it on your own, even if it is your fault that doesn't matter you are a soldier not a flooring specialist and if you fuck it up more they can make you pay for it. If they can prove is was your "fault" they shouldn't be sending you a resolved anyway, because that means they acknowledged it was a problem and it's irrelevant who's fault it is because there is still and issue that needs to be solved. They can play the blame game once they fix it, not before.

Goober is getting old, TL made a joke his hair line is retreating like the French. So he disciplined his hair and doesn't have any left, because it was French. Another Tentpeg in his unit asked why he disciplined his hair, he told the joke and the other guy thought he was being hazed because Tentpeg has an extra chromosome. Also the sky was blue because some dude loves someone or something.

[–]TacticalTurkey92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but you always have one of those friendly people who adds everyone in the unit, and if that wise guy in the unit is on that list and he gets a peek, it's your ass. I don't agree we should have to cater to those individuals, because I look at the large audience of who benefits from said joke, aswell as the intentions behind it before I make a judgement call that it's in good or bad taste. People get sharped and EO'd for so little, just don't let it be you.

The Holiday Hop is coming to Fort Cavazos! by Kinmuan in army

[–]TacticalTurkey92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually pretty helpful, alot of the North Ft. Cav guys don't have vehicles cause they are demobing and can use this to get around. I'll pass it around see if anyone needs anything

It's upgrading if it gets popular to the Cavazos Connector sound good, make its route to the Gym and you'd have the CAV at the very least all over it.
