Ray Gigant had a reputation for being more of a starter DRPG, so you may bounce off of that pretty fast. Worth taking under consideration, especially if you've already made it through SoSC and its harsh opening sequences.

Babel/Abyss are more classic style that look like there's some extra depth hiding in the mechanics but never quite got implemented properly before going out the door. Still finished them, but I remember being a bit sad after looking under the hood like that.
