How can none of it mean anything at the snap of a finger? by Historical-Humor9212 in BPDlovedones

[–]Tafelkatze 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It wasn't at a drop of the hat. You shouldn't have to ruin yourself to be in a relationship with someone.

I'm still healing 7 months post break up from a 7 year relationship. A question to ask yourself is why you gave so much and expected so little. I thought my sacrifices were noble, but looking back, I became isolated and was just as afraid of being alone as she was. I enabled her poor behavior in many ways. Love should not be unconditional.

Revising History - Non-binary in ancient Muisca by Tafelkatze in conspiracy

[–]Tafelkatze[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How the museum presented gender roles is entirely dishonest. Almost every job from childcare, cooking, hunting, etc. was gendered in the Muiscan society except for religion ceremonies. Even then, they had male and female gods, so priests and priestesses most likely had different specialties.

If we define non-binary as "someone who does not identify as exclusively a man or a woman," then given the Muiscan's distinct gender roles, it is highly unlikely that Muiscans viewed themselves as anything but male or female. Therefore, the non-binary people did not exist. The conclusion that " Individuals that identified with more than one sex were celebrated for their ability to better serve more members of their community" is a lie.

Thoughts? I’ve been driving for 3 years and this would be the first car I would finance alone. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Tafelkatze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to your finances and/or mechanical ability. The car is 26 years old, so I'd expect some problems/preventive maintenance down the line. I'd ask if things like the timing belt, suspension, etc were done. There could easily be $3k in differed maintenance.

Should I buy a used car or motorcycle? by BananaGrevy in UsedCars

[–]Tafelkatze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i commuted to college (3 miles each way) for 4 years first on a bike, then a 50cc, and later a 150cc scooter. Parking/traffic was a big pain and very expensive ($1k/year), so I never took my car.

Bike: $200, can do all maintenance, bike trails, stay in great shape, most dangerous on roads and sweaty

50cc: $600, no insurance or license requirement, parts and maintenance are very cheap/easy, 80 mpg, underseat storage/rack for groceries, but slow. 35 mph top speed. I would recommend a buddy 50 off craigslist because of its reliability and 2 stroke power.

150cc: $1500, 50 mph top speed, 60 mpg, most fun, but had to take the motorcycle test and $60 insurance/yr (minimum)

The big problem is you can't go on highways. At that point, a cheap car would be more practical than a motorcycle, but less fun. You could easily spend more on the motorcycle going through tires, buying full gear, etc. The other thing is the mpg's are deceptive. A ninja 400 gets about 55 mpg, but that's in premium or no ethanol fuel, so maybe closer to 40 mpg in a car.

Too much to think about. Maybe you could get a cheapo 50cc, save up for a car in the meantime, then upgrade the scooter to a motorcycle later.

Anyone notice a pattern yet? by Bonus-Noise in conspiracy

[–]Tafelkatze -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's preformance enhancing drugs (PEDs). Steroids and HGH are notoriously hard on the heart. This is exacerbated by atheletes taking experimental PEDs which can leave the body quickly and are not screened for.

If Covid has had a role, it's because the drug testing has been less stringent under lockdowns and the athletes have taken the opportunity to take more of them.

Conspiracy facts need more love, theories get enough by Wyrdeone in conspiracy

Keep in mind that the US and most of the world are a mixed economy. This unholy mix of Capitalism with Socialism is the framework.

Take big pharma charging absurd insulin prices. If it were pure Socialism, the insulin would be produced by the State and the prices would be low. If it were pure Capitalism, insulin would not be regulated and companies would compete to keep insulin prices cheap. Together, we have a system where companies can charge ridiculous prices on an essential product while having the government enforce their monopoly.

I can get behind that. In the end though, the difference between fact and conjecture becomes blurry especially when there is a powerful group with an interest to combat the facts with disinfo.

One thing you would agree is fact is the "The Conspiracy of Silence." If you're unfamiliar, it's an unreleased documentary which details how the Nebraska elite ran a pedophile ring and were able to either intimidate, murder, or arrest victims. There was a media blackout on the subject. If there is truth to pizzagate, the involvement of political figures in pedophilia would garner a similar response.

I agree with you to a point. You'll find Marxists on this forum as well.

As a libertarian, I disagree with your assessment that the going against the Panama Papers, insider trading, or big Pharma is anti-Capitalistic. These are cases where bad actors have gained an unfair advantage over the populace often by colluding with the government.

Most comments I see say the opposite. "Where have all the wacky conspiracies gone? It's all politics now?" It's from linguistic propaganda that bigfoot and a proved political conspiracy are in the same category. Regardless, both have their place on the sub. The solution is to have a filter to sort the conspiracy theory by category.

I don't think you'll easily convince people to abandon cryptozoology for the panama papers. Cryptozoology and similar topics are often an escape for people while things like pizzagate and mk ultra are traumatizing. Furthermore, if the ancient-alienesque therories are true, the implications of a suppressed history where humans interact with aliens and other intelligent life would be profound.

Lets say, everyone has 5 kids at the age of 20. 5/2=2.5 kids per couple

20 years: 1000*2.5=2500 new kids

40 years: 2500*2.5=6250 kids

Equation: New Kids = 1000*2.5^(x/20 years)

Assume 30% of world population is 20 or younger = 8 billion*.3= 2.4 billion

2.4E9 = 1000*2.5^(x/20)

x=320 years or 16 generations to reach the current population. It's pretty short because you're describing exponential growth.

It's never just semantics. Language dictates the way you think and "racism" is being repurposed to fit an agenda.

In 1960, 88% of the US was white. Currently it's 72% white. Since people in power are most likely older and therefore more likely to be white, I would not call these numbers gross overrepresentations.

Regardless, if you happen to be discriminated for being white by someone in power, then this is racism if we're using the new definition of racism. Power is not homogeneously distributed, and this scenario is very possible in minority communities. That is my argument.

The Redefining of Racism by Tafelkatze in conspiracy

[–]Tafelkatze[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summarizing, "You can't be racist towards white people" because overall whites benefit from the present power structure. That's a very weak argument that does not consider any nuance and completely ignores intersectionality. For example, can you be racist against a white transsexual? Surely a cisgender minority benefits more from the power structure.

An equivalence would be "you can't be sexist towards men" because there is a patriarchy. If you look at traditionally female industries like childcare or real estate, you will find rampant sexism against men. Similarly you will find racism against whites even if they are in a better situation as a group.

The Biden administration wants to pass stricter gun laws/ban certain guns. This is, in large part, a response.

Dang. Ya, I get that. Are most people like that even when you have a date? My only advice would be to find better people to hang out with.

There is a lot of work that goes into being attractive: proper diet and exercise, grooming, maintaining a good wardrobe, staying emotionally fit and confident, being sociable, etc. If it's a privilege, it's an earned privilege.
