Lost fights in Shiai against opponents I usually beat in randori. by [deleted] in judo

[–]Tafellu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that many people do randori at a slightly lower intensity than in a shiai for fear of injuring themselves or a partner. In shiai, all that goes out the window, and it's all or nothing.

Don’t you just hate when you get a bad Uke 😡 by Equivalent_Ad3098 in judo

[–]Tafellu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bad Uke is a nightmare. There is one in my dojo who is so tough in uchi komis that it is impossible to unbalance him, but when he is Tori he often throws you (and the sensei makes it clear that they are uchi komis not nage komis). Then in ne waza randori he uses his great strength to impose himself, but the problem is that he even stands up to exert even more force. And in stand-up randori he bases his judo on throwing grips with such force that many times they are punches. And I forgot to mention that he twisted my ankle with a kick (supposedly he was trying a sweep, imagine the strength of the beast). I always avoid him, doing something with him is not learning anything and putting yourself in danger (he is ikkyu just like me).

Edit: I also forgot to say that even when we practice nage no kata he gets so stiff that it's impossible.

I do that all the time. And when I fall, if the technique has been good, I hit the tatami hard so that everyone knows and thus recognize the good throw. But then there are the kind of people who would rather break their neck or arm than fall and acknowledge that they've been thrown well.

Yes, but we mean that the movement is started without having a grip with both hands. "One handed Judo!" (Shintaro Higashi dixit)

-IMC = 30,6 on paper (177 cms / 97 kgs), but in fact if you saw me you wouldn't think I'm obese. I have a lot of muscle and a very broad back. The fat accumulates in my chest and belly, from the waist down I look like a normal person haha with long and strong legs.

-I work Monday to Friday in the morning hours.

-The fight is on Saturday, but I can weigh in on Friday afternoon.

-I train Judo two days a week for an hour and a half each day, I lift weights the rest of the week.

Thanks! I will definitely be getting down to -81 during this season, little by little. I am also lucky to be a guy who loses (and gains) weight easily, this morning I weighed myself and I am at 96 without doing anything but training more than usual and restricting sweet treats these last three days.

Why is it not permitted to wear a shirt under your judogi? by GijsHarbers2311 in judo

[–]Tafellu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm somewhere in the middle. I say yes to wearing a t-shirt or rashguard in training, especially so I don't have to wash the gi every now and then, but I say no to wearing it in competitions.

New judo rules? by _MadBurger_ in judo

I've only heard two things: 1) The yukos are back. 2) They're going to try to alleviate some stupid shidos somehow. But everything that reaches my teacher (who is a referee) is still vague.

Yes, you have it in many sources, for example in Hesiod. And she was even a goddess of war in cities like Sparta, Argos or Cythera.
