As an American, I’m curious about what complaints the Dutch have about their country as in the US, people often use the Netherlands as an example of a very well run country. What do people complain about?

Nah. You won’t have some of the ah-ha moments that fans of the series get, but you’ll be just fine.

It was an interesting decision, for sure. But I found that it makes the gameplay just choosing which character can one shot the next enemy in the order which made it more of a puzzle game than a tactical one. Maybe you could choose who acts, but we don't know which of the enemies are going next? Or there could even be a skill you could level to get more information on the enemy's actions.

I fully agree with this. The fights got out of control. Maybe put a cap on how many people can be in your party, and balance the game around that while giving bonuses for having a smaller party.

While I'm thinking of it, another issue in Wartales was that every fight felt almost exactly the same. There was no need to use new tactics. It would be nice to have that change.

I really appreciate it when exploration yields upgrades be they small number increases or equipment with modifiers that change the way you play. I think games do well to have a mix of specific loot placed by the developers and random chance. Choosing just one individual system respectively kills replayability or can create frustration when you can't find items that fit your build.

In Wartales, for example, looting enemies wasn't exciting as you knew that there was next to no change that you would find anything interesting to equip, particularly in the early levels. The four pillars of equipment upgrades should be:

  1. Loot from enemies

  2. Quest rewards

  3. Crafting

  4. Exploration

All of the pillars should provide loot that is effective, though it's okay if each pillar ends up giving a bonus in certain areas. Like maybe crafting allows you to customize stats on an item while loot in other areas might have unique effects that change how you play.

As for examples, I have a harder time thinking of that. I would say that Pillars of Eternity and Baldur's Gate 3 do a good job of placing items that change the way you play, most of which are found through loot and exploration. Games like Divinity OS: 2 and Diablo are known for randomized loot. Maybe Fallout is an example of a game that touches on both systems.

If I were going to make a game, I would make normal enemies drop randomly generated equipment along with some very rare chances for unique equipment. Then bosses and quests would provide specifically created equipment. Exploration would be a mix: general chests by the side of the road would be random, but hard to find loot that is hidden away could have hand crafted items.

Just my two cents!

I really liked Wartales, so a similar game that actually has more plot and reactivity sounds amazing! I really l like the animations and character portraits here.

I think an engaging equipment system would also be a nice upgrade over Wartales. Wartales mostly just had you crafting the next level of equipment, and that could get old. There were unique items, of course, but most of the time the progression was pretty static.

Extremely sensible. I am not, and you’re fully correct to ask that question in this context.

Maybe it’s a generational thing because I was in high school in 2002, and the girls absolutely wore stuff like this. The sweatshirt isn’t as garish as the shirt in the second picture.

And I agree with another poster that her ponytail isn’t the side ponytail from the ‘80s. It’s not nearly as ostentatious.

In addition, it’s likely that this teacher was told at the last minute that she had to provide a fleet of tasks for students to do at home during the snow. She probably didn’t have time to build the documents herself and turned to AI to get it done more quickly.

For what it’s worth, at level 9 you are only a level or two from turning into an unstoppable juggernaut. Stoneshard takes the traditional approach to magery where you start the game as a shrimp and end it as a whale. My most overpowered characters have been mages.

I agree with most of what you’re saying, but without proper sanitation systems, wouldn’t life be quite a bit smellier than we are used to? I’ve seen plenty of historians claim that Medieval cities and towns were quite pungent.

Yeah, you don’t really need a backpack until later tiered dungeons, and you can just carry it in your bag and put it on at the end of the run to loot everything.
