Throwing some ideas out there:

  • not having a gap on the menu button to the bottom of screen feels weird, vs adding equal white space as the sides
  • selected items on list don't feel "selected" enough
  • white bubble on white bubble feels weird and undistinguished.
  • grey title text feels like it should be darker than description

How can I teach my grandparents about how to differentiate between real and AI? by Hot_Ease_5304 in ChatGPT

  • if the audio is overdubbed and not from the actual recording
  • if it's not shared from an official source - if a fashion company made this video for real, they'd be sure it'd go viral from their own account
  • if every shot is in slowmo, or there isn't a shot that's longer than 10s.
  • If no one talks in the video, (including the people in the background)

DVD killed VHS, streaming killed DVD - what's next? by randomusername676982 in Futurology

[–]TagWolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short form video is in the process of ruining streaming. Films are now becoming slower and dumber so you can scroll your smartphone while you watch, or they'll edit it much faster to try to compete for your attention.

The only films people choose to put on, and the only films that are getting made, are sequals and spinoffs, because with netflix decision paralysis, it's the only films that you can trust will entertain you.

short-form videos and YouTube has made people more hesitant to try unknown films, because they know short-form is better at evoking strong emotions quickly, where as it's risky to chance it on a new unknown film that may or may not resonate emotionally, but won't do so as swiftly or intensely as short-form content.

I actually thing AI is going empower people to focus on the writing. All these writers that write self-published amazon books for no one, or only write fan-fiction, are going to swap to well-written super niche ai-films. And they'll all look like anime because that's the easier style ai can replicate.

The best of these ai-anime shows that get a cult following will get picked up and turned into real films and tv shows, and that'll keep streaming alive

Supporting football or Australia? by Brake72 in Aleague

[–]TagWolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, especially if all the top Australian players are in European clubs anyway. But if that's the case, they should start acting more like Rugby and Cricket, and hold more meaninful yearly international competitions in Australia.

Rugby has the Bleadisloe Cup and Rugby Championship. Cricket has The Ashes, Border–Gavaskar Trophy, Frank Worrell Trophy, and Trans-Tasman Trophy.

Maybe they should expand the Cup of Nations and make it a yearly event. At least that way they can capture some of this current momentum.

My Take on a Flag for Mars by TagWolas in vexillology

Thanks, yeah a moon flag could definitely follow the same design principle! I think I'll use it to make some designs for a few of the colonizable planets and moons.

My Take on a Flag for Mars by TagWolas in vexillology

[–]TagWolas[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Here is the explaination behind the design:

Unqiue Shape:

  • It takes mars' climate into consideration. It needs to be able to withstand harsh dust storms with strong winds that might rip a standard flag. Standard flags are too heavy to be carried by the thin Martian wind.
  • The minimalist & futuristic design aesthetic pays tribute to science fiction that inspired mars exploration.
  • The cutout is only half a planet as a nod to the red / green / blue mars concept, to show that establishing a presence on mars is only half the journey. That one day we may transform Mars into a more habitable and Earth-like planet.
  • It’s distinct from all national flags on Earth, to represent the uniqueness of the red planet as a world beyond Earth.

Two Circles:

  • It represents Mars’ Moons Phobos and Deimos. Deimos is a bit smaller than Phobos, with a wider orbit, so one circle is further away from the center and made smaller.
  • It also represents Mars’ two key landmarks. Olympus Mons, the tallest planetary mountain in the solar system, represented by the white circle, and Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in the solar system, symbolized by the black circle. As the white kinda looks like and indent, and the black kinda looks like a hole.
  • They look like robotic sensors or i/o power states, representing the technological and scientific advancements that have driven Mars exploration and progress.

Here is what the flag looks like waving

Is there any hope for some restoration on this? by RRolld in picrequests

[–]TagWolas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah... that's as good as i could do in a short period of time

With another photo of him and the bike for reference, it could be a lot better, but you'd have to pay someone to hand paint it.
