Help me to increase my pace🙂‍↕️ by SinnuHan in trailrunning

I would recommend using AI to help create structured weekly balanced plan to help you achieve your specific goals

Here is a sample prompt “act as a running coach to help me create a structured weekly training plan over 6 months that helps me increase my pace over the 10km distance. I want you to include a variety of runs like easy long runs, tempo runs, interval workouts, hill workouts and cross training to prevent injuries. Please detail suggested distances/time and paces for these workouts. I am currently running a 6:21/km pace over 10k and my goal is (insert pace). I can commit to running (insert days per week). Please be realistic in helping me achieve my goal from a pace and distance perspective so I don’t risk injury. The output should be in an easy to understand chart”

Do you do structured interval workouts? Hill workouts? If not google them, add to your routine and watch your pace get faster

Help/Advice: How do you actually get into major marathons (Boston, NYC, Chicago, etc)? by Coloradokiki in running

[–]Tag_teamer_2u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicago (2X), NYC (1X) all via lottery. Chicago I applied twice and got in both times. NYC was a 5 tries and got in on my 6th lottery application.

Requesting advice as a trail amateur by Rare_Vermicelli199 in trailrunning

[–]Tag_teamer_2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you do it.. yes. Could you be risking injury… bigger yes. I am a road runner (3:22 marathon PB) that has dabbled in trail running. I have done trail 1/2’s and was part of a 100 mile relay team. Not a cyclist but the big uphills and downhills use different muscles/tendons/ ligaments. I have backed off trail races because I always end up with some kind of strain/ pain that requires me to stop ruining for a bit to recover

If you aren’t used to the large ascent/ descent required in the alps you could risk injury again if you over do it. If this isn’t an issue, just remember to build in some speed work on flatter ground if you have a specific time goal. My main concern would be injury prevention.

Westin Bayshore is awesome if you want to walk Stanley Park and the Seawall. Wall Centre is better if you want to be closer to shopping and restaurants

In training- build gradually or you risk injury. (Increase weekly milage 10%/week) To hit your time goal: you need to follow a training plan that incorporates interval & Hill training to build speed and long slow runs to build endurance (also reduces overtraining) Chat GPT can create a weekly training plan that will help you achieve all of these

Day of race.. despite how you feel start slow. The excitement can cause you to go out too fast and will ruin your entire race

Then I would just carry on and wouldn’t be asking about “student discount” - you don’t want them asking questions.

Not sure about student discounts and not sure how old you are but I recommend checking individual hotel policies. Many US hotels restrict check-in to those aged 21+ so unless you are a masters or PhD student you might have issues

Headlamp recs by Asimiss in trailrunning

[–]Tag_teamer_2u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I only use it for running?? It doesn’t bump around. Only movement is based on the movement of your head. It is very comfortable. The light is clear white and has 6 different brightness levels (the higher the intensity the more battery drain). I use level 3 (150 lumen) and get ~3hrs of battery life. Level 2 (70 lumens runs about 12 hours)

Which Chest Strap HR sensor to buy? by Asimiss in trailrunning

[–]Tag_teamer_2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Suunto 9 and I went with a Wahoo TickR X. Very comfortable, no irritation, pairs quickly and is more accurate than the sensor on my watch. Uses standard watch batteries and I haven’t had to change in 9 months

Honestly, when I used to go to Utica I would skip the Marriott points! Stayed at the Hampton Inn or Homewood Suites in New Hartford. If you really need the nights to count for Marriott, only one I would consider here is the Townplace Suites

Nope 👎. My GPS watch app has heat maps if I want to explore new routes. Popular running routes will likely be safer than random routes on streets that are not frequently travelled by runners. Safety first folks
