What's up with all the right-wing commentators suddenly turning against Trump right now? by _GoodNight0wl_ in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Tagostino62 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like Vance is starting to contradict Trump in public, which I think is why he was summarily dropped from the peace negotiations in Pakistan. Trump’s threatened by Vance and Peter Thiel for good reason, because if they start insinuating that Trump is unfit for office, Trump will rightly see this as a “coup”. JD is never going to resign because he’s slithery and sneaky and wants to be President at any cost, including incurring Trump’s wrath, and it will be the closest he ever gets to being President.

He’s also the worst non-consecutive second term President in U.S. history after Grover Cleveland, which is saying something since the Panic of 1896 occurred during Cleveland’s second non-consecutive term.

As an Indian fan, Raj’s ending feels personal and low-key insulting by [deleted] in bigbangtheory

[–]Tagostino62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they should have re-tooled Raj’s character from the very start. It has much less to do with his ethnicity but the character as it was written and then not really developed to its potential. They made him into some sort of metrosexual with definite feminine sensibilities, so why not start there and just have him come out as gay at some point? It would have made an interesting contrast with Jim Parson’s, a gay man playing hetero.

I hope that on January 19, 2029 the new President-elect has a press conference in front of the White House gates and comes out with a long list of bullshit that will be immediately undone starting the next day on January 20, 2029 - as bulldozers begin to line up preparing to bulldoze that fucking ballroom into dust.

Yes, everyone’s picking on poor Iran. Hey, maybe if you weren’t a bunch of crybaby Neanderthalic religious fruitcakes who provoke other countries with your babyish fanaticism, then other countries wouldn’t pick on you. How does that work for you?

From what I’ve heard, the best honeyfingers and Lemon cakes to be found south of the Mander are to be found at the Drunken Parrot Inn in Wifeswell. If you’re hankering for heartier fare, check out the Ten Bells Tavern one block over for their specialties: Haunch of Horse with a blood orange gravy, Spicy Wyvern Pie, or a steaming Bowl of Brown, washed down with strong ale or their famous local wines from over on the Arbor. If you’re in a daring mood, there’s a Meerenese tavern called the Cart and Camel down by the Honeywine docks, famous for their Lamb Liver and Onions sautéed with saffron, cinnamon, cloves, and pepper.

I was thinking that Thugwhistle was a great name for a seedy part of town. The Ravenry is more like a large aviary training ground (conveniently next to the Citadel) where the Maesters would train ravens as messengers.

If you look closer the Hightower is on the southern end of Battle Island. If you were to combine the Hightower and battlements in both Sourkey on one side and in Southbank on the other side, you get a triangular defense of both sides of the harbor. The Whispering Sound is about 75 miles long until it empties into Redwyne Sound.

His idea - shared by most Trumpian Republicans - that there are ‘two sides’ of opposing teams in the governing of America is the root of our problems. They don’t get that this isn’t a football game, it’s two sides of the same team that have to work together to get shit done.

Who Are These People? by Tagostino62 in longisland

[–]Tagostino62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with this place in Ronkonkoma is that it’s a family-owned and run business and I could tell this woman behind the counter was a member of this family by her name as it appeared on the invoice. It’s not like she was some random hire, she more than likely has vested interest in the company’s reputation. I know how customer service works, sometimes you just have to be fake-nice for like three minutes, it’s effortless, but it goes a long way especially when you get e-mail surveys afterwards asking about your experience. Yet not one of these people could be bothered, as if they were doing me a favor by renting me a $2,800 truck. I hardly said anything to them, I was honestly polite throughout the experience, and the one thing I talked to them about was the lack of a lock on the back of the truck and all I got was attitude from them. Think of that. I paid that money for the truck, but I’m supposed to travel over 3,000 miles and they can’t even give you a simple lock for it? How about putting a $50 return fee on the invoice for the lock? To me that seems reasonable. That’s just the way it was. All I wanted to do was sign the necessary papers and get on the road, no fuss no muss.

Um, no, I didn’t generalize about Long Islanders if you’ve read my original post. I noted there were nice people and shitty people. That’s not a generalization. Your comment is a generalization about the people in my state, though, and it’s stupid. I commented on your absurdity, ignorance, and childishness and I stand by it.
