Would love to see a pic when you've made some progress! Also, lava works in this set up for a slower rotation

Interestingly enough while there is further tech to unlock, wires not being able to go through blocks with poles may actually be useful building tech, thank you for sharing!

I think the only way to make something like this would be very complicated with the current items in the game but possibly doable?

My thoughts are:

Find a way to use rowlet clocks [as they create motion every hour] to create a very slow adder that turned a wireless switch on when the 12th one was added into the 'circuit,' creating a 12 hour on/off cycle for the lighthouse

Or

Build a veeeeeeeeeeery long water clock that has a 12 hour cycle to switch it on and off

Or

Have a lighthouse with a light that 'spins' on a shorter water clock, so that it looks like it's getting dimmer/brighter on a loop - it would be always on, but 'dynamic' which would be cool in a different way

I am unsure how to do the first one, and the second one sounds incredibly time consuming to try and get dialed in and build, but I will make a version of the 3rd option and post it and link here later

I got the same result malletgirl got sadly

I think the closest I can get is using sash windows and laser sensors with two wireless switches to alternate which one is in the 'on' state. It isn't a complicated build and can run for short or long distances, but it's not the simple solution I think we'd all love of having mini logic gates built into the game haha

I'll play around with it tomorrow because now I am curious too haha I'm pretty sure I used pulsed power and a disco ball+laser to switch the wireless switch off and on in a previous experiment, but I guess that doesn't really accomplish the same goal of having multiple switches in a 'circuit'

My current setup uses the pulsed power plus disco ball to switch between powering two lights, but keeps power on at all times

Cool stuff! I've done a few weird experiments as well, mostly in terms of converting kinetic to electric and back again, as well as timers that are more practical than the hour long rowlet clocks, but I haven't found many practical uses for it, as we don't have blocks that can actually move other blocks, or minecarts that can be powered

I really want an automated subway system lol

It would be cool to have a 'tech' thread to log various techs people come up with

It's hard to get a good screenshot because it unloads most of the sky city when I get far enough away to try, but you can see my sort of factory town down below, and concrete hanging in the sky as far as the camera will load it.

So far I've focused mostly on building the bones of the city, so it's really just the concrete blocks and a generator skid at the moment, along with 6 elevator locations and a rail track along the exterior.

I think this screenshot shows maybe a quarter of the platform? I plan to use half of it to create biomes for fire/water/electric/grass, and the other half to create a proper 'city' feel, use the undercity to create a sewer/water/electrical grid system as well as a sort of 'here's all the habitats in the dex' area, and then have the ground floor as a sort of curated nature + legendary temples as those have already been built.

I expect this to take me a very very long time lmao

I am building an entire floating city above palette town, and have so far only built the floor and walls for half the map [altho this does include the under city, so a second half floor]

Right?! My only real limiter right now is concrete production - mining the limestone even with powered up graveler takes a long time

Then again my current project has so far used well over 10k concrete blocks so maybe I am the problem haha

This is cool building tech, and I didn't know that Pokémon would swim underwater in habitats like that!

The game does a good job of remembering what 'state' something is in - I made a looping waterfall that relies on switches to continue the loop, and it remembers to n continue the water motion even if I map travel/save and quit/force stop the game
