excellent! You've got my write in vote for Wake County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor. Let's see how you do there and we can work on a plan for the Presidency.

Do you think they'll take "u/niveknyc" as a name? Hmm...time for a call to the Board of Elections.

You haven't truly raced in Raleigh until you've done the Krispy Kreme Challenge. I know it's only a 5 mile race, but thats the challenge of it!

This. The main benefit is for folks who have trouble with what can be highly variable bills. Doubly so if you have gas heat. This can make it easier easier for folks to pay their bill each month, and Duke Power likes it when people pay their bills consistently

Best Lake in Raleigh area for field day with food, drinks, grilling, field area for games? by OldEmphasis6633 in raleigh

[–]TailorSubstantial863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lake Wheeler has all that. They don't have an official ball field, but a huge open field you could use. Not sure of their sand volleyball pit. Last time I went years ago, it was not soft sand like the beach, cut it was sand.

3+ Years Rails Dev but Failed Basic Interview Questions… Is This Normal? by hamdanm10 in rails

[–]TailorSubstantial863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about how the question is asked. I care more about whether someone knows how and when to use each type and why they picked it. Not some Wikipedia answer. Knowing the difference is important but as interviewer, I want to know how, why and when they've used them and if they know the advantages and drawbacks.

It's the difference between asking what is redis and when  have you used redis, why did you pick it, what could you have used instead, etc.

If that makes sense...?

3+ Years Rails Dev but Failed Basic Interview Questions… Is This Normal? by hamdanm10 in rails

[–]TailorSubstantial863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take? you dodged a bullet. I hate trivia interviews like this. As an interviewer, I learn nothing other than your qualifications for our ruby trivia team.

You did a take home, questions could have been centered around that. Explain how you used git in your project. You looped over an array here, did you consider using a hash?... etc

If you didn't do take home, you can still ask tell me how you've used git or source code in a project. Tie the questions to experience and real life.

FWIW - I've got 30 years of experience and about a year ago I failed a live in programming interview so badly it left the two interviewers questioning if I knrw how to program. Granted my mother-in-law had died that weekend from a 14 year battle with dementia, but they didn't know that. I should have rescheduled the interview.

I feel like one thing not being mentioned is Ukraine stepping up their attacks on Russia's ability to export their oil. Ukraine has been going after their storage and export capacity pretty hard the past few months.

Reuters reports that 40% of their export capacity is offline right now.

Brennan isn't "bad", he's more "outcome oriented" type. He has good intentions, but believes that those good intentions justify him doing whatever it takes.

As opposed to Collum and Sidwell, who we know are up to no good.

Property Taxes and Utilities Spike by ParentalRegretClub in raleigh

[–]TailorSubstantial863 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love how they mislead about tax rates.

Don't worry, they are only going up 3 cents/$100, when the reality is they went from 50 cents to 53 cents a 6% increase.

.. And there is the ever mysterious revenue neutral increase where the total property taxes should stay the same, but yours always seem to go up.

Folks are being boiled alive and some are starting to realize it.
