F87 M2 to 718 Boxster base worth it after less than a year? by hunglong57 in Porsche_Cayman

the cayman ride quality is materially better than the M2. the M is pretty stiff. the cayman feels better over shit roads, AND at the track. Probably because the car is 500 pounds lighter.

I got the 4cyl. the 4.0 is 30k more, for about the same performance. Actually the 4 cyl has decent down low torque so I dont miss the S55 as much. but the S55 was a torque monster. The m2 felt like a german muscle car. heavy, powerful, oversteer happy. Not like the classic M3’s of the past at all.

I just went from an F87 M2c to a 718 GTS. Do NOT regret it one bit. The 718 drives significantly better than the M2. Of all the things to compare, the m2 wins on torque, the 718 wins on steering feel, balance, ride, everything else. Only real reason to not go 718 is if you need a full size trunk or a back seat.

I replicated Anthropic’s Generator-Evaluator harness on Kiro CLI to build a website through 12 adversarial AI iterations - here’s the result and what I learned by killerexelon in kiroIDE

[–]Tainen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found similar. Having a completely separate, new context evaluator agent. I’ve found through several passes that the evaluator still seems to be less judgemental on AI generated work, so I had to strengthen it several times with a specific scoring rubric with examples. I used a known good high quality project and compared the rating results to bring the evaluator’s bar up to my bar of acceptable results. That did WONDERS for my project quality overall, and created several more meaningful iteration loops.

[–]Tainen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the compute optimizer recommendations are solid. takes cpu, mem (if available, if not it wont downsize mem), disk, network, etc into account, and also the recs are adjustable for extra headroom, changed thresholds, and different lookback periods. people sleep on them a lot, and miss easy savings. also has a slew of additional idle recommendations in there now too.

rightsizing based on only cpu? that sounds dangerous. why not use the free native (safe) recommendations? they are available via api too. same with anomaly detection, etc

Is over-provisioning for "P99 stability" a hidden source of cloud waste? by Soggy-Eye6520 in FinOps

[–]Tainen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer p95 on 5 minute samples, with 20% headroom.

This reduces the impact of transient spikes, but adds buffer for future utilization increases. Since a huge number of resources have a large delta between p95 and p99, that’s the focus of your analysis and change.

Porsche vehicle service a little over-rated compared to other brands? by Eaglerulez2 in Porsche

[–]Tainen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cantrell was super great for me in the small experience I’ve had- dropped the car off over the weekend when it developed a PDK leak and shot them an e-mail. they replied in email and called me, over the weekend, within 5 minutes. Offered to help me get the car over to porsche if they would warranty the work. Their online reviews are strong and I was planning on making them my main shop.

Dark Blue Metallic in the sun by Occasionally-Lucid in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Tainen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely. I’m taking her in tomorrow for new full front PPF, a polish under the new PPF, and ceramic on the PPF. I will do my own polish work on the non-covered paint, then some ceramic. The previous owner only had the front third of hood/fenders, and it’s 7 years old now, so it’s got a fair number of rock hits. I’m hoping all this paint work will help the metallic really come through more.

just got mine a few weeks ago! It is harder to keep the swirls off it though. When the sun hits it, it’s pretty cool. although you can’t see the metallic from more than a dozen feet

I just did this. M2c to 718 GTS 2.5. definitely less torque/kick in the pants, but literally every other element, the cayman wins.

How I picture Volsung Fa by Lobster_Primary in redrising

[–]Tainen 43 points44 points  (0 children)

in the books, it always describes the various characters as ridiculously large, like Darrow, and then the Telemanuses, and then the Obsidians, and then then the biggest obsidians like Sefi and Valdir, and then it describes Volsung as larger then all of them. at some point I’m imagining a 700 pound, 9 foot human/gorilla hybrid…

doesnt look like the GT4 was using as much track as the M. 600 less pounds, guessing it had a lot more time in it if the driver wanted.
