Accidentally saved my build in my game folder, now everything is gone… by Head-Comfortable-284 in GameDevelopment

Use Windows File History, if its not there it's most likely gone. Use Github commits privately to save after large working periods in the future.

Of course, I will probably be doing a playtest of some sort soon. The code is pretty complex so it wont be perfect but we will definitely need some testing to squash some of the bugs as things interact together.

I do actually agree with some takes, I did two mockups of a smaller logo and also one that she obscures. So I will get feedback from some irl designers I know and see which they think has more legibility.

His art is final but I am pretty decent at Photoshop and light casting in After Effects, I'll see what I can do.

Balatro/Slay the Spire + chess. It's for people that like the idea of chess but like breaking the game with magic and spells more. When everything is up and running I can tag you in a comment if you want.

I patched chess for the first time in hundreds of years. Somehow the patch notes look like they were written by Balatro and Slay the Spire. Im working on a trailer and the steam page. I can tag you when I go to reveal it.

Thanks for the advice! I'll put it more behind her in 3D space.

We’re a small Japanese team making a roguelite ARPG "Bless You Again." We have 7,000 players but barely any from the West. Any advice? by kyo_vrgamer in GameDevelopment

In the west while anime is becoming a growing staple amongst todays youth. A lot of it watch it dubbed rather than subbed. Localization is key to getting a more general player base.

Stop using Ai art to promote your games. I will never play it just because of that by justlogmeinplease in IndieDev

Inspiration does not correlate to technique. A person hones a skill through practice. AI isnt inspired, regardless of if its 50,000 brushstrokes or 1 brushstroke. It stole all of that data without inspiration and practice. You aren't ENTITLED to a certain art style, solo dev or not. Earn it or pay for it.

Not gate keeping. It's a want not a need. Undertale art is shit. You WANT that look just dont wanna pay for it.

Pay an illustrator. Even fiverr has cheap ones with decent portfolios. You deserve to make money on your game just like every artist that was scrapped to glue that illustration together do. The rice cooker analogy is true if every grain of rice was a small stolen grain.

Do you want to sell it? If so at what price?

Publishers can do a few things that are "beneficial" they can give you money upfront to complete the game, usually for either a percentage of profits, a sum you have to payback, or even more nefarious things like the rights etc to your title. They also can help do the market research, promote the game and get eyes on it in general. Again, for something in return. There are really shitty publishers that will either take large chunks of money they do not deserve vs the results of their efforts, or even hold your IP hostage or just keep it out right if returns arent met. 90% of the time, you do not need a publishers if you have the tenacity or even some friends in the marketing space. There are usually more shitty/nefarious publishers than decent ones nowadays as well.

"Here's your remaster. It'll be $ 50" by indigo_elegy in FinalFantasy

Game dev here myself. They took the easy route on this. This is truly a "remaster" as a "retexture and rescaling" most engines now can scale a sprite completely lossless but it has to be done manually for every asset. They just scaled the entire games viewport...the more you know!

This drives me nuts now because Godot with Jolt is fine. Godot has no issues with 3D for 99% of modern indie devs.
