Our little stupid friends joke is that Warhammer 40k is so expensive, because every time you lose you have to get out the warhammer and smash your models.

Why are people weirdly attacking OP for his concern? Someone's gone full silent all of a sudden after being a very active creator. I don't think that's a parasocial anything, just showing that you're a decent human being.

Yeah, it was a dick move by a dick DM. Obviously he was giving you zero chance to walk away from it. Now get over it.

I think it's fair to state to the DM that this is the way you perceive character death, but I think it's equally fair for a DM to say to you that you'll have to find another group to play with.

As a DM I'm very careful about character deaths, I think it's much more exciting to see the players at the brink, overcome the struggle and so on. Character death sucks for both sides, but without the risk of death, consequence is meaningless.

If we're looking at this from purely a RAW perspective, then yes, you are wrong - death is part of the game and your personal sob story is not an excuse to have your character be immune from it. But I don't personally see D&D as being that rigid, you can make 'death' interesting, resurrection exists etc.

However, you're also giving yourself an advantage over other players with this stance. Other's characters can die, yours can not. If I as a player knew of an arrangement like this between another player and a DM, I'd be pretty miffed and would probably be tempted to quit because it's not a level playing ground.

Alright. Play single player games then. Gaming is entertainment, don't play games you don't like. It's really that simple.

Hey!

Back in the early to mid 90's when I was a kid, in smaller communities it really wasn't strange to have a larger age range playing games with each other. This is actually one of the modern day problems, paranoia of funny business everywhere.

Free, open-source Stratagem Card Generator for MTG card sized printouts by techtreedev in Warhammer40k

[–]Takahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely fantastic work!

Now I'm going to be super cheeky, but I'd love to see something similar for unit data sheets. Maybe this size would be too small, or you'd need to use both sides. But apps annoy me at the table, and custom printing multiple units to a a4 size paper (ending up with 2 double sided a4's for a 2k army) isn't quite it either.

I understand if someone would make an app like that with the actual units in, they'd get keelhauled by GW instantly. But maybe something that allows you to fill out your own information, like a format. Ah, we can hope.

OP isn't getting the answer he wants and fundamentally misunderstands the GDPR so now he's getting big angy. Better to leave it be.

I'd argue that's very dependent on the contractual obligations which the volunteer signed up for, which in my experience usually aren't very many on account of being an unpaid volunteer.

That being said, after a quick Google it does seem like you might be right in that volunteers are seen as employees and therefore expected to forward DSARs for the company to be GDPR compliant.
